Hi, how long does it take to get MR after the file gets transferred from CIC in average?
My file has been transferred since Mar 19 and no MR til date

AliMo, welcome to the support group ;-)

I am guessing that you called them and this is how you know that your file was transferred... correct? eCAS does not give that info.

This is mainly addressed to those that have already landed and have dealt with a Province DMV.

So, I know that this has been discussed in the past, but half say that for applying a DL, one needs a Stamped DL Extract issued from the Home country/state DL issuing authority. The other half say that an International Driving Permit is what is needed to apply for a DL in Canada, and bypass the Learners stage. The info on Alberta DMV is not very clear, it says that one needs an International Driving permit that captures and translates the info on the DL. The Driving Extract also does the same thing, it translates the info on the DL.

So, can someone who has dealt with a Province DMV, please tell me what their experience was. Thank you so much.

Swanky Singh, I only have experience with BC DMV. They do not accept international driver licenses. They want to look at the country licence but with a non-US or non-european driver licence, you have to take the test again (both written and driving). But if you have driving abstract from your country they will credit you the driving years so you do not have to drive around with a "New Driver" decal on your car after you pass your driving test. A word of caution, they will take your foreign licence away once you start the process of getting a license in BC.

Okay, I quickly reviewed the info on Alberta's DMV website and it looks pretty similar to BC.

Hope this helps.

You can add me Kerdek. 12-Dec-14. 31-Mar-15

Hi Kerdek..it's good to see same NOC as me but noticed that your PER is a bit late compared to the rest of us here.

I wonder if what's going on with our files, it's hard to believe if we're all rejected....that's a lot!

don't worry freexyg..what i think (i might be wrong) is that there were a bunch of files which got transferred to a certain case officer on the 19th of march. this officer has not yet started sending MR hence the delay ..i have seen only one guy with file transferred on 19th march get SLU last week ..rest everyone is still waiting..
