Hello everyone,

I got my passport back today from CIC with the Visa stamped ;D
My time line is to the left

Passport sent by me: March 18, 2015
Passport Received by CIC: March 19, 2015
Passport reached back to me: April 1, 2015

I am planning to do landing in Edmonton CIC Office. I called the CIC call center to set up an appointment and after waiting for 25 mins, i was forwarded to the immigration call center.
The guy there told me it will take 4 to 6 weeks for an appointment in Edmonton - it might extend further or i could be called earlier.
i went ahead and set up the appointment

Any one else can shed light on timelines in Edmonton CIC office ?

Congratulations!!! :) 8)

Diplomatru - I sent you personal question - if you would have time - I will appreciate,

Thank You
Grace

Not sure about Edmonton time line but sounds like the average wait time for most local offices. I say go to the US boarders and get it done. It will take 6 weeks to get your PR card after your appointment. The drive is annoying but you will get to see Alberta 8)

Why do you not want to do Flagpole at Canada/US border

Hey man, I live in Edmonton - setting up an appointment might take you 4 to 8weeks, but you might be lucky and get it less than that. CIC Canada place should have called you by now to fix your appointment. My friend was lucky to get a week due to emergency. My appointment was for may 5 but screw that - drive to Carway border/Montana US :) about 5hrs 30mins drive from Edmonton (the closest).

Park your car at Canadian border and walk to the Montana border n get a letter, come back to the Canada border and those bad guys there will answer you in 20mins max depending :)
Go along with all your Canadian documents from old to new.
Make sure your car has a high centre of gravity - There is a crazy wind blowing from the beautiful mountains that can be a frustration if you dare leave your steering wheel for a sec :D

@bat001 - thanks for the quick info - i think i will flagpole either at Carway or Cottus - just waiting for the weather to get a little better so that i can drive safely

i have been reading through the forums and have found people with bad experiences at Carway Border- mainly rude border officers

i dont care for that much as long as they give me my PR :P

Question regards to Landing

I'm planning to land at the Niagara falls border. From US to Canada.

For mailing the PR cards, Can I provide my friend's address @ Vancouver?

Does it matter that I'm landing on the East coast and Mailing address is at West?

Pardon my ignorance but what appointment are we discussing?

doesn't matter...as long as you provide a Canadian address - maybe not Quebec

Once you get your Visa, there are 2 ways to land ( if you are already inside Canada )
1. Take an appointment at the nearest CIC office in your city ( takes longer depending on the queue 4 to 6 weeks )
2. Go to the Canada US border ( flagpole ) - and come back immediately and the processing will be done instantly

Hi farahnz

My application was received on 20 Oct (a week after your) and PER was issued on 20 Jan (again a week after). I hoping to get my MR soon.

Is CIC processing FSW1 and FSW3 files separately ? Because I saw, some applicants of FSW1 category having Nov application date got the MR request

I second what Dimplomatru already said. I guess they validate your work experience in CPC-O and based on how long this validation takes, the issuing date of MR for different applicants varies. But the good news is they have started MR shower. and I hope you get yours very soon.

Thank you for the explanation. I am based in USA and never heard of taking appointment to land. But thanks for clarifying it is only for people who are already in Canada.

So since Friday is a holiday in Canada, i don't expect to hear much from Ottawa tomorrow. My hopes are a lot of MRs next week!!
