Wow Grace, I did not realize there were so many of us in similar situations!! I myself finally decided to move to Canada after living in the US for the last 22 years.Grace1978 said:Yes I hope so, I am scared because I have everything set up here.. and I just want to change for better life, because:
0) PR from day one - Freedom !!
1) Schools - better education for kids - and not so expensive like in US - I hope I will be able to get higher education for my kids - I wouldn't be able to afford that in US
2) Healthcare - for all - here cost a lot - every year!
3) Retirement friendly - yes
4) Family friendly country - more time with family - Vacation time, holiday time... finally more time with family - I hope so
5) Family can visit us anytime (only if we can afford it) and they would not be depended on issue tourist visa to US
6) High - very high Property Taxes in US
I hope with job will not be so hard after having 12 years of experience in US... I hope so...
The only scary part is - that all Canada dream is based on Hope that all will be fine....

They are not supposed to, but it's luck-based.farahnz said:Guys, How can I know that I have passed eligibility check in CPC-O ? I ordered GCMS 5 weeks after my PER but by that time they didn't even touch my file. Once I received my notes (few days ago), I ordered new one, but I just can't wait for a whole other month to see the updates, is there any other way? Would they respond to this kind of questions if I call them?
Really 22 years ??747-captain said:Wow Grace, I did not realize there were so many of us in similar situations!! I myself finally decided to move to Canada after living in the US for the last 22 years.
After USCIS has "screwed me around" for all of this time, I finally decided enough is enough! Although they have always renewed my work authorization and I have had no problem to work here, it is like being trapped in a large jail (my green card case has been infinitely in "pending" status, and it still is). For example I haven't seen my parents in 13 years, when THEY came to the US to visit me because I could not leave the borders.
And also at one point would you believe USCIS sent my file by mistake to archives and it sat there for almost 9 years collecting dust, and we had to file a lawsuit (called "man damus") to get them to continue processing? Sometimes we are a bit impatient with CIC processing, but when you consider how incompetent the USCIS is, it makes CIC look like a lightning-fast, super-efficient machine!!!! ;D After having spent $80,000+ cumulatively on my case, during my entire time here, and not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel, is what got me to finally apply to Canada!
After living here for so long I also share some of the same concerns you have, but then I realize you can't have it all. Cost of living in Canada I assume is definitely higher (everything from cell phone, car insurance <OUCH!! >, and groceries) and salaries are definitely lower for professionals. But in the end it is DEFINITELY WORTH IT for the freedom!!!! and to be finally recognized as an integral part of the society you live in, without constantly living with the fear of them possibly "throwing you out" one day!!
Thanks for the reply Diplomatru,Diplomatru said:They are not supposed to, but it's luck-based.
Selection-decision triggers MR, so you will know that they made a positive eligibility against MI when you receive the email.
Google CIC phone, it will pop up in a second, follow the IVR instructions during business hours to speak to an agentfarahnz said:Thanks for the reply Diplomatru,
Yes I know that, but apparently they are not going to give us MR any time soon, and for me It's ok as long as I know I have passed the eligibility check. I am a little paranoid because they used to reject many applicant in NOC 4012 before. Do you know what number I should call? I am in Canada..
call 1888 242 2100. Press 1,1,3,1. Have your application and UCI number on hand. Good luck farahnz!farahnz said:Guys, How can I know that I have passed eligibility check in CPC-O ?
