I have a problem. Earliest I can go to Canada is in late Oct this year and I think it'll be too freezing cold to visit Toronto.CanOl said:Don't take that risk Jaxon. In case you miss out on 20th Feb 2016 for whatever reason (personal, professional or any other), you may lose out on Canadian PR forever.
Go once, well in advance to Canada, maybe on a holiday and come back to UK. then you may decide when you want to finally shift.
lol. I still remember your debit card charged for a Pizza order at the time of initial CC charge for PERJaxon911 said:LOL! I can tell you it wasn't Mr. Jignesh for sure ;D
Thanks CanOl. Certainly, I'd love to meet and keep in touch with everyone on this forum. If we all help out each other, we may not need local connections to find work!
Looking forward to pizza party!
You don't have to apply for PR card, CBSA officer will do at the time of landing. COPR with photo is your application for PR card, which officer will take away after completing formalities. Another copy, the one without photo, is our copy.Jaxon911 said:I have a problem. Earliest I can go to Canada is in December this year and I think it'll be too freezing cold to visit Toronto.
However, what you're saying definitely makes sense. I haven't made any sure plan. This is just a tentative plan at the moment. I'll go thru available opportunities and do bit of research before I make final decision on my landing. Earliest I can travel is sometime in Oct or Nov this year.
What's the process for applying PR card after landing and how long does it take to apply? (not how long does it take to get it delivered) Like can I land there on Sunday, Submit my app on Monday and return on Tuesday?
You don't need to apply separately. PR card is issued once you complete landing formalities and gets delivered within 3-6 weeks at the address you give at the time of landing.Jaxon911 said:I have a problem. PR takes about 5-7 weeks to receive.

My doctor submitted my Medical Results on 25 February. 3rd line got updated on 1st of March 2015. And just a few minutes ago I got following email:
Dear Mr. Jaxon,
Your application has reached the final stage of processing. Please follow the instructions in the attached letter carefully. Your file number is indicated in the subject line of this email.
oh ok thanks Goku and CanOl! +1Goku said:You don't have to apply for PR card, CBSA officer will do at the time of landing. COPR with photo is your application for PR card, which officer will take away after completing formalities. Another copy, the one without photo, is our copy.

SIN no: You will get it right away at the airport within few minutes or you can visit Service Canada to get it.Jaxon911 said:oh ok thanks Goku and CanOl! +1
So I can simply complete landing formalities and return anytime. I guess I need to supply some valid address for delivery. That's good to know. I thought I have to visit some government office to apply for PR card! Also one more thing, what about healthcare access? I read somewhere that people don't have access to public health automatically. We have to register for it.
So what's the process of getting registering for the same?
I guess I'll also need to apply for Social Insurance Number. What's the process for the same? And is there any other formality needed to complete before getting started with life in Canada?
