A Query for How much money to bring while entering Canada

  • There is no limit to bring money to Canada by a PR
  • You need to declare at immigration check that you hold more than $10,000
  • It is not mandatory to bring/carry the same amount that you showed at the time of filling/showing Financial Proof (forms)
  • Other money if less than $10000 you can carry a travelers cheque/DD or even can transfer money later on when you are settled
  • Immigration Check team/people will sure make sure that you have enough money for 1 year survival before you are landing
  • This thing they will conclude by few basis questions in form of small interview at time of immigration check
  • The money you have showed POF or intending to carry are already taxed, so whenever you bring to canada in some part of full, those amount will always be non taxable in Canadian terms and accounts
  • In case of transferring huge amounts, one need to prove that all part of it is already taxed within your origin country

For someone who asked what's the difference between getting PCC, from local PS / PSK

The differences between this 2 places are.

PSK - Online registration> fill form > take appointment > pay online
- from Psk > verification goes to local police station > then to SP/commissioner office > returns back to PSK
- certificate issued = Police Clearance Certificate = PCC
- extra - they do stamp on our PP, as well with PC

Local Police Station - No appointment/ walk-in > ask for a form > fill it > attached required docs
- after verification > docs goes to SP/Commissioner office > from here have to collect the certi after 10 days
- certificate issued = Police Verification Certificate = PVC
- they do not stamp on PP, just the certi is issued

This is for Gujarat, Not sure of other states

I had got my medicals done on 12th November 2014 wherein there was a slight chest infection (cough patch) detected in my Chest X-ray. They uploaded my results and NDVO got back to me after a week and has asked me to do further additional tests to rule out TB.

I have to go 3 consecutive days to the DMP and give my spit samples, which will be incubated for 6-8 weeks.

After that I will have to get a repeat Chest X-ray done 3 months from first MR Test (February 2015)

All these results will be reviewed by a pulmonologist or respiratory physician in February 2015 to rule out TB.

So, in short, my PPR is delayed atleast until February 2015

As an update to this...I got my sputum test done and had my repeat chest x-ray on 13th February followed by a consultation and sign-off by the pulmonologist.

All reports were negative and normal and no TB was spotted. Expecting my 3rd line ECAS update soon and officially back in the rat race of the PPR waiting game...urrgghh!!!

Hi Amitesh,

CIIP course has no effect what so ever on your CIC application.
It is advisable to attend the course as it helps you settle in to candidate tad bit easier.
Once registered, either attend the full course or intimate CIIP well in advance of your cancellation.
This program is partially sponsored by the CA govt hence a lot of money is being spent to assist us. Lets not waste that.
Finally, 1 session spreads across 2 days. You cannot attend just once.
The child is not required to go. You and your wife should though.

Hi Sridhar,

Thanks for the information...

My Medicals were submitted on 7th Dec 2014 and i am still waiting for my PPR.

I have also registered to CIIP Program, but I have received an email from them, for the upcoming session starting March 2015.

So, I have few questions on this :-

1) Is it necessary to attend this CIIP Program, I mean Mandatory. As is this will effect your application procedure ?

2) What if PPR comes before the CIIP program ?

3) In CIIP email, they have mentioned 2 sessions :-

a) Group Orientation Session (GO Session): 1 full day
b) My Action Plan Session (MAP Session): 1-2 hours

I have a small baby, so me and my wife cannot attend full day session. So, can it be possible to attend the Option B for 1-2 hrs session...

Please suggest....
