How much is the ideal time for completion of background check ....

Depends. Where case is straight through, this may not even be done in detail. Generally applicable (though not always) when the applicant is working with some reputed company and has done his educational degrees from some recognized institute. In case of smaller companies, self employed people and educational qualifications from smaller universities, the background check may take longer (for obvious reasons that information about these companies or institutes is not readily available). There will always be exceptions though.

CanOI - I have sent you a PM. Appreciating your comeback in advance

For All My Friends who want to know about GCMS notes

(1) I am From India- But I applied through my Sister who is Canadian PR.

(2) If you apply directly @ https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip
it will cost you just 5$ and no fancy tags of 35$ or 50$ or whatever
because this is Canada's direct official site.

(3) Watch video @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_E_dq_uLVo
to know more about "How to send this request "

(4) It took exactly 30 days to get my reply.

(5) Strange thing is - i Applied on 3rd Dec, Report was prepared on 4th Dec but
they released it only on 3rd Jan.

(6) Very detailed report 46# pages in total, Full of information, Point calculations, What they
accepted, What they did not, Everything in detail.

If you want any information, please PM.
Regards
MAnish

Thanks a ton Manish. very informative.
If Ok with you, can you share what was not accepted for points calculation.

Hi Seniors,

I received PER on 31 dec,NOC 4011 and Visa Office:New Delhi.So I hope avg time for MR is 30 days.Am I Correct?

Is background verification happening from New Delhi Visa Office. Will they check funds also????

MR will take 45-60 days or longer.
They may want to check settlement funds if they doubt your docs. Else generally they don't. Either case, be prepared.

Till now I don't see any progress after step 3 . Can any of you please let me know how much time it is going to take or approximately. Appreciate if you can share your experience.

1.We received your application for permanent residence on May 22, 2014.

2.We started processing your application on October 3, 2014.

3. Medical results have been received.

Appreciate your response. Please.

Thank you all

Wait for PPR now.

Guys, nd your help..............! :o

Happy to share that 2nd line updated...."Started processing 17th December" hoping soon will get the PCC & meds req...

My worry is i've applied for FBI PCC Nov 10th and till now no response... not even CC charged.. afraid it will take too long and my timelines to send the DOCs to VO may overdue....

Any idea how long it takes normally for FBI PCC? yeah it says 12 weeks but soon I will get that date too...

Thanks...

Congrats and +1 to you for 2nd line update!!
In case FBI PCC takes time, request VO for extension in submission deadlines, they generally agree.

I disagree, there are cases where people have been working with biggest MNCs and still stuck with 2nd line, they havent got verification call yet. verifying from such MNCs is not smooth, they have policies not to disclose to other organizations, they may only verify if letter of reference was issued by the company to employee with approval of his supervisor.

What is the last charge date? Is it still application rwc on 28th october?

Hi Canoi,

I am sorry to disagree but I do have the option to reissue my passport. Post marriage I have not got my spouse name added, so I can give that as a reason to reissue my passport.

So if you can still answer my original question: Can I renew my passport after the K visa is issued? Any complications?

Appreciate your help

Brother,
If you are from India, passport cannot be re-issued to add spouse name. It is only renewed. Re-issuance and renewal are 2 different things. In re-issuance, tenor is extended by 10 years (5 years for minors), while in renewal, only the required updation is done and expiry dates of passport remain same.
Renewal may be done to change address, add spouse, do corrections etc. It can also be done if blank pages of passport are over. In all these cases, expiry date doesn't change.
Anyways, I had already answered your query in a different post earlier. Guess your passport is valid till 2017 if I am not wrong. So wont be an issue in COPR validity. Later once you land in Canada, you will get a PR card which is your visa to stay in Canada and is valid for multiple entry. You can renew passport through Indian consulate in Canada.
In case you want to reissue passport immediately after COPR issuance in India itself, you may have to carry old and new passport both at all times till you get your PR card.
However reissuance is not possible prior to more than 1 year of expiry. you can check the same and let me know.
