missionimpossible said:Hello,
Thanks for the advise. Appreciate for the taking the time out. Actually even i had thought of the same thing. The reason I wanted to get the passport renewed in home town is:
1) It is relatively cheaper to get it done here. Rs 1500 normal processing and Rs 3000 Tatkal(priority) processing
the details as per Indian commission canada(Fee $ 76/- + $2 Consular surcharge (for a 36-page booklet) + BLS C$ 7.40 including tax), that comes to approx Rs 5000
2) If I do it in Canada, I would have canada address on bio pages. Now in India if we have investments we need to submit KYC regulary. Passport is a good document for address proof. There are others but passport is universally accepted.
I understand that once I land and apply for PR card, that is the master document. I just need to know from seniors that will we be able to travel to canada with a renewed passport and visa on the old passport for the first time.
Thanks again for the advise.
First and foremost you can't reissue passport more than 1 year in advance. So just forget it.
