Hi People,

Please help me with the below situation. I am currently awaiting PPR from NDVO(Medicals have been received, timelines in side bar). My passport expires on 02nd Jan 2017. I have 2 years left in the validity. Now If my application is successful, I am planning to land by September 2015. That leaves me until June 2016 to renew the passport(6 months prior to expiry). I would prefer to renew the passport in the home country then doing it in canada.

Is it possible to get the visa on the existing passport post which I renew the passport. I read that the validity of the visa is one year from medicals or till passport expiry whichever is earlier. In this case will the visa on the old passport be valid. My brother had his H1B visa on an old passport and while travelling he just used to carry both the passports. Is this applicable for the canada visa too.

I do not want to get into the hassle of applying for a new passport now. For some reason if the police checks get delayed, it would simply cause a panic situation.

Advise will be appreciated

Dear Mission,

Once you land in canada then they would issue you a PR card, which will become your virtual identity card for multiple subsequent entries and you dont need any further visa from that point onwards, which will allow you to safely renew your passport on return visit to india post getting PR card. So for now, you should go ahead and plan your trip instead of getting into hassles of renewing the passport.

On the H1b visa, the concept is dfifferent. H1B is a temporary work permit to USA valid for three years and they dont issue any separate identity card like PR card in canada. So only valid entry document for H1b applicant is visa on your passport and in that event, passport validity also acquires equal importance. I had one 14 years back to go to USA, so know a bit.

Finally I am sure you might want to explore the possibility of renewing the passport by contacting indian high commission in canada, that could be easy process as well once you get the PIO card after spending 180 days outside indian shores.

My sincere apologies for any misrepresentation of facts, seniors please advise to be double sure.

Since EE has the points for spouse's education, do we need to have ECA done for the spouse as well?

Hi seniors

Need an advice. I am at the stage where medical is done and waiting for 3rd line of update. As soon as i get it I am thinking of resigning coz in my company I have to give 3 months notice period. Moreover I have to also write GMAT exam in order to pursue Part time MBA course in Canada (if reqd).
I know most of the pepl will recommend to wait for PPR but owing to my situation Shud i go ahead nd resign after 3rd line of update. Is der much risk involved in doing so ?? Pl. advice
No , you can wait till PPR and live your life as normal which you are doing right now , i have gone through this situation and seniors have guided me to wait , you can keep this as saving which can utilize for your education in canada

Hi all!!

A happy new year to everyone!!! May god bless everyone with their wishes!!

Any July applicants with MR request from NDVO??
Still no second line updated!!! Only thing to do now is wait!!

Waiting very anxiously for the MR request!! :) :)

NDVO is ON with july applicants, pls check my timeline on left.
However, for those May and June applicant who are still waiting, please have patience yours are cases in progress, sometime there is more time taken on certain cases than other. God willing you all will be through.

Only worry that I would seriously have is someone missing out on the MR email going to SPAM folder etc. Please make it a habit to not permanently delete any email between processing started and MR. Inbox deleted emails go to trash and sit there to viewed even after deletion. But SPAM folder emails cant be recovered later. So please be careful that way. otherwise, not need worry, you are very much in the game and will be through. God Bless.

If you want to know what WAITING really means do apply for Canadian PR under FSWP...that's what I learned from my expereience. More than 3 months after third line update in Eca...don know how many more days/months to wait further :-[ :-[

Paru, you will get in Jan 2015 for sure......

Hello,

Thanks for the advise. Appreciate for the taking the time out. Actually even i had thought of the same thing. The reason I wanted to get the passport renewed in home town is:

1) It is relatively cheaper to get it done here. Rs 1500 normal processing and Rs 3000 Tatkal(priority) processing
the details as per Indian commission canada(Fee $ 76/- + $2 Consular surcharge (for a 36-page booklet) + BLS C$ 7.40 including tax), that comes to approx Rs 5000

2) If I do it in Canada, I would have canada address on bio pages. Now in India if we have investments we need to submit KYC regulary. Passport is a good document for address proof. There are others but passport is universally accepted.

I understand that once I land and apply for PR card, that is the master document. I just need to know from seniors that will we be able to travel to canada with a renewed passport and visa on the old passport for the first time.

Thanks again for the advise.
