Hi People,

Please help me with the below situation. I am currently awaiting PPR from NDVO(Medicals have been received, timelines in side bar). My passport expires on 02nd Jan 2017. I have 2 years left in the validity. Now If my application is successful, I am planning to land by September 2015. That leaves me until June 2016 to renew the passport(6 months prior to expiry). I would prefer to renew the passport in the home country then doing it in canada.

Is it possible to get the visa on the existing passport post which I renew the passport. I read that the validity of the visa is one year from medicals or till passport expiry whichever is earlier. In this case will the visa on the old passport be valid. My brother had his H1B visa on an old passport and while travelling he just used to carry both the passports. Is this applicable for the canada visa too.

I do not want to get into the hassle of applying for a new passport now. For some reason if the police checks get delayed, it would simply cause a panic situation.

Advise will be appreciated

Hi,

I think you can only renew your passport if the validity of your passport is remained for 6 months (or 1 year not sure)....i think 2 years are good enough...anyhow you always have to carry all your passports with you....Again i am not sure but i think you can renew your passport from Canada itself, from Indian consulate in Canada....So i think nothing to woory in going ahead with your current passport validity....
Lets see what other experienced guys say ;D....

NDVO could be overloaded - this could be the main reason.

You can raise your concern to VO through CSE. If few more applicants also raise it, they may feel pressure and would tried to speed up the processing may be through recruiting more human resources or doing overtime work. I guess, CIO is working 7 days a week.

thanks century +1 , will wait max till 15 th jan , than sure will raised the concern , but as always have negative thaughts that by raising the same , will give any impact to my file ..

Need an advice. I am at the stage where medical is done and waiting for 3rd line of update. As soon as i get it I am thinking of resigning coz in my company I have to give 3 months notice period. Moreover I have to also write GMAT exam in order to pursue Part time MBA course in Canada (if reqd).
I know most of the pepl will recommend to wait for PPR but owing to my situation Shud i go ahead nd resign after 3rd line of update. Is der much risk involved in doing so ?? Pl. advice

Do not resign till you get your passport request. You are on right track, but why to leave any small chance of rejection ruled out. Better be safe than sorry.

Best advice I can offer is to have your CoPR at hand before u resign. As you are still covered for a year to make entry. So use that time to build a good reference at work and leave a good impression behind,
All the best

Hi forumates

Does "medical received" i.e. 3rd line of update means that medical results are OK and rprf fees is cashed??

It only means your medical results are received and nothing more.

Friends

Urgent help Needed !!!

I am awaiting MR request. What happens if i get my passport re-issued right now before MR just to get address updated.

Thanks in advance!

Following may happen:
1. You will get your new passport.
2. You may get the Second line update while waiting for the new passport
3. You may get medical request while waiting for the new passport

Following you can do after getting the passport:
1. Write a cover letter to VO
2. Attach photocopies of biopages of new passport and send the same to VO along with MR and RPRF fee related documents.

In case you opt for normal processing make sure it is not far away. If in Delhi, try to do tatkaal processing.

Wat is the time taken by NDVO for PPR after 3rd line of update?
