I have been thinking about this for some time now.
1. The number and type of applicants will not change because of the rule (not for the first year atleast as the new rules sink in)
2. What will change is the FIFO ("attempted" - might not have been really the norm) process.
3. From Pt 1 & 2 - everyone with a certain profile (clean records, good medicals, experience et. al.) was getting through earlier but there is still ample opportunity IF one only applies.
I dont have reason to believe its tougher. Try the points calculator Beta that they have put up on CanadaVisa.com. I was glad to see I got 434 points of 600. Moving to Canada is no longer ALL about applying in time - its all about preparation and profile-fits. Really, nothing much has actually changed.
Regards,
Rick
Rick, I already calculated my points for EE, I have 457. Not sure how this would amount in comparison to people who already live and work in Canada - they have an advantage for sure, I think they will be the only ones who score over 500, because of the Canadian experience and good English scores (for obvious reason; besides, they can opt for other test instead of IELTS - I heard the other one is easier). I don't think I'm going to apply though...
I think the new system will become more difficult for those with poor IELTS scores. Anyway, I wonder what impact (if any) will EE have on our local VOs. Processing speed-wise, I mean. Of course, I am hoping to receive my medicals next week, but you can never be sure in this process. My point was, what if EE applicants will be prioritized over FSW 2014 applicants in local VOs.
