It's quite clear that they closed the second application due to duplicate. Only if the two applications were under different category or under different NOCs, you'd be given a choice. In fact, you are quite lucky that they didn't reject both of your applications since CIC strongly discourages duplicate applications for same NOC.

Destinationca said:
I agree; CIC has clearly listed NOT to file 2 apps unless they are in different NOC's, so you should consider yourself extremely lucky here that they are still processing one of them.

Guys,

Would you please share the source/reference where it states that duplicate application submission will lead to rejection, irrespective of same or different NOC.

I've found some excerpts from Guide 7000:

"Do not submit documents that are not found on the checklist and do not send duplicates of your application or documentation.

Documentation submitted with your application will not be returned. You should obtain multiple originals of any documentation submitted with your application (such as reference letters, police certificates) so you are prepared if you need to submit a new application."

Personally I don't see anything wrong in applying twice, irrespective of same or different NOC, until CIC acknowledge my application and I get PER.
Moreover, the fate of the application comes to know after 3-4 months.
The hurdles with duplicate application is, to arrange original IELTS & WES, fees at the stake, but to be on the safer side CC are the best option.

Cheers!

Dear all,
I would like to share my status, might be helpful for others:
1- I have submitted 2 applications for same NOC and hence, I have got 2 PER's
2- As per time of each application, I've got the 3rd line of the first one on 10/17/2014
& 1st line of the second one on 10/27/2014

3- When I was checking my status by UCI, I was finding that I have 2 applications . Both of them are showing (IN PROCESS)

4- Yesterday, I surprised that the status of newest one has been changed to (Withdrawn) Automatically without any request from me

5- When I pressed on it, I found the following :

We received your application for permanent residence on June 25, 2014.

We started processing your application on November 18, 2014.

We withdrew your application on November 18, 2014 and your file has been closed.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

6- I couldn't understand why they did that but, I guess that they found the first one has reached to the last stage and it 's a matter of time to send PR therefore, there is no any need for the second application

7- Could I find any answer or Explanation?
People already given you answer why its closed.
But I have a question for you why you applied 2 applications in same NOC?
If that particular NOC is reached to 1000, then I really hope after closing your application CIC picked one more application towards 1000, if not then you spoiled an opportunity for someone.
Really I want to know what sort of benefit you was expecting with 2 files?

Even I would like to understand this concept of applying for same noc twice and not to withdraw 2nd app after receiving 1st PER

please don't quote from 3rd party sites. And nowhere is it mentioned that entries will be pushed to express entry.

canol I understand that it no where written anywhere on cic websites that those apps reaching after 31 dec to cio will be placed under express entry.

but read this paragraph again, especially the last sentence (copied from this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp )

As of May 1, 2014, there is an overall cap of 25,500 for new federal skilled worker applications. This includes a cap of 500 applications from PhD students. There are also sub-caps of 1,000 for each of the 50 eligible occupations. The caps do not affect people with a valid job offer. These are the last applications we will accept under the current system before Express Entry launches in January 2015.

the last sentence itself makes it clear that these are the last applications they are receiving under FSWP2014.......until express entry launches in Jan 2015.......means that from Jan 2015 all the apps will fall under express entry program, now again they haven't mentioned it anywhere exclusively but again this last sentence was also not there until previous month....they modified their paragraph last month and added this sentence.......so they can modify it late as well and add or delete something.

I know its not 100% sure but these things are indicating it.

Please guide me , I am little confused.

How many points can i claim for my IELTS

My score

L - 7
R - 6
W - 6.5
S - 7.5

Thank you.

I consider the meaning of last sentence is, before Jan. 2015, there will not have other FSW programs than the current one FSWP2014.

Not at all. First, I've come across this exact phrase before. Second, it has nothing to do with applications "transfer". It means what it literally reads: These [25,500 at max] are the last applications we will accept under the current system [because it will be closed] before Express Entry launches in January 2015 [yes, it launches, that's it, if your FSW application is received by CIO in Jan 2015, it will be invalid. Who do you think will enter your data to the new online forms, who will ever create an online account for you and fill in all the details therein (e.g. your CV)?]

I received the below email from NDVO today, with subject,

Invitation to Participate in Canadian Immigrant Integration Program (CIIP) Sessions

Dear Federal Skilled Worker applicant or Provincial Nominee,

On behalf of the Government of Canada, the Foreign Credentials Referral Office (FCRO) at Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) would like to encourage you to attend the free orientation services offered by the Canadian Immigrant Integration Program (CIIP).

You, your spouse and your working age dependents become eligible to participate in CIIP when you are completing the application process for a Canadian immigration visa, usually at the stage where you have been requested to undergo your medical examinations, and security and background checks have been initiated. Please be aware that being eligible for, or actually participating in an orientation session, is not a guarantee or an indicator that your immigration application will ultimately be successful or that you will receive an immigrant visa.

The purpose of the CIIP orientation session is to help you understand how to use labour market information and how to get your credentials/qualifications assessed and recognized. You will also learn how to access local resources through Canadian partners who can help in your job search and in the settlement process. Immigrants to Canada who have participated in these sessions have described them as very important to their early labour market success.

CIIP services are offered in a number of locations in India, China, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. Services will also be available in other countries depending on demand, including Scandinavia, the Middle East and South East Asia. More information about service locations can be found at the CIIP website, www.newcomersuccess.ca where you can also register to participate in an orientation session. CIIP staff will require a copy of the correspondence you received from CIC, verifying your eligibility as a Federal Skilled Worker, or Provincial Nominee, or as a spouse or an adult dependent of the principal applicant.

The CIIP sessions are very popular and space is limited. We encourage you to register early to secure a spot in an upcoming session.

The FCRO also encourages you to visit our website, www.credentials.gc.ca where you can find additional helpful resources about working in Canada.
