I am a qualified Mechanical Engineer, also hold a Certificate of Competency to work as a Marine/Mechanical Engineer Officer from Maritime and Port Authority, Singapore according to www.Stcw.org and International maritime Organisation.

Is the the kind of certification you are talking about or do I need to get equivalent Canadian Certifications?

I have also applied for FSW 14 and my application reached CIO on 20 October, 2014 under NOC 2132 (Mechanical Engineers), waiting with fingers crossed.

To answer you my fellow Mariner. CoC can only be issued to PR or Citizens, so until u become PR, u cant get equivalent Certificates.
Also you will have to take some courses and do their own medicals. See link below from Transport Canada // Equivalent with UK MCA where I got all my docs[/color]

Guys....need advice.

i have received a mail from LVO, asking for additional docs.

Proof of settlement funds.
"You must have sufficient transferable and available funds, unencumbered by debts or any other obligations. Please refer to our website for more information on the amount required. Clearly state the exact amount in Canadian dollars, taking into account any financial obligations, and provide documentary evidence. Proof of assets that are not liquid or transferable, such as cars or jewellery, will not be considered.
Please submit certified copies of your bank statements, showing incoming and outgoing transactions, including your current salary, for the last 6 months, providing explanations for any large transactions.
"

Query:-

1. What do they mean, preciously, with the 'documentary evidence' ? Isn't it just the complete bank statement (6 months) ?

2.problem is, i have a bank account in local currency (Pak Rupees) and my bank is'nt agreeing to state/ write total equivalent amount in Canadian Dollars as required by LVO. What should i do? Should i do it myself by attaching a separate letter along with the official statement, last six months transactions from the bank?
It's a common problem. Take some paper from the bank / currency exchange office showing current exchange rate and calculate the amount in CAD. You can write in a cover letter that your bank does not provide statements in CAD and they can do calculations themselves :)

UPDATE :

SECOND LINE UPDATED ON ECAS TODAY . JUNE 5 APPLICANT.

WHAT IS SECOND LINE - Could you explain ????????????
SOMETHING I can not understand?

Hi to all,

I have a question, my husband convinced his employers to have his reference letters be done in English even though our countries official language is Spanish.

Because he is sending copies of those English reference letters, do they have to be notarized by public notary?

Do Spanish once have to be notarized by public notary or just translated by official translator?

Thanks!!!
