Hello Seniors,

I can see a suspicious entry in SS. Can you please check WorkBook "App Staus By Recd. Date" . There is a CC charge entry dating 9/9/2014. Please confirm if its valid or a mistake.
Due to this all estimates have been disturbed.

Thanks,
Zizy
I believe it's supposed to be Jun 9 instead of Sep 9. No wonder the Charge date estimates sheet went haywire. Can an admin or the original person change it?

Re: Learn about Canada - 1. Maritime Union

Oscar7 said:
Did you know that the three Maritime Provinces began discussions about forming a union in 1864?

Each delegation included representatives of the Government and the Opposition. In the spring of 1864 the legislatures of the three colonies agreed to hold a conference to discuss the possibility of uniting. The movement stalled there, as none of the colonies would commit to a time and place for the conference. It was not until the Province of Canada asked for an invitation that a meeting was hurriedly organized for September 1 at Charlottetown. Not only did the three premiers - Sir Charles Tupper of Nova Scotia, Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley of New Brunswick and John Hamilton Gray of PEI - come but they also brought members of their Government and Opposition.

Maritime Union

In the 1860s the British colonies of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island believed they would be strengthened by forming some sort of union between them. When the new Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick Arthur Hamilton Gordon arrived in 1861, he quickly lent his support to the government of the day and a meeting was called. The leaders – Sir Charles Tupper of Nova Scotia, Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley of New Brunswick and John Hamilton Gray of PEI agreed to meet. That conference, originally held to talk about uniting the Maritime provinces, quickly evolved to include Canada and became the foundation of the creation of our country.

The idea of Maritime union - the reorganization of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia into a single British colony - was not new. Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick had once been administered as parts of Nova Scotia, until 1769 and 1784, respectively. Several of Lieutenant - Governor Gordon's predecessors, including J. H. T. Manners-Sutton, had also favored reuniting the three colonies.

In addition to historical precedent, there were more pressing reasons to reorganize the colonies. The United States, embroiled in the Civil War, posed a military threat. Many prominent colonial politicians felt that the united colonies would be able to mount a more effective defense. In Britain, the Colonial Office also favored a reorganization of British North America. The British hoped that union would make the colonies less reliant on Britain, and therefore less costly to maintain. Gordon's own ambition may also have been a factor - he envisioned himself as the governor of the united Maritime colonies.

Not only did the three premiers come but they also brought members of their Government and Opposition. The Canadians arrived at the Charlottetown Conference well prepared to argue for a wider union of British North America, and support for a Maritime union quickly waned. Disappointed, Gordon left the conference before it had finished.
So informative Oscar. +1. I didn't know that. Keep them coming.

Edit: +1 stopped due to Karma.

Is there a need to add cad conversion document too for pof ?? I just sent bank certificate in inr approximately to something more than required in cad ..is that a problem.
It helps when it's all in the package, but I don't think it is a major problem. CIC officers know how to use currency conversion sites, I think ;).

I am a 5th june applicant. I have applied second time this year and my CC got charged on september 24., But my ECAS status shows nothing.

When does the ECAS status show? after the PER or before that?
Did your first application get returned?

Because you just got charged, it will take a while for you to get PER and ECAS to update. It normally takes about 6-10 days after charge, so just hang in there. It'll come soon.

many potential candidates are now receiving their ECA reports as the rate of filing may be
increased from Oct 2014 upwards.
Wishing you all best of luck in your application filing.
May not be fully correct but some things are close, I guess. Especially what was said for the closed ones, specifically 1112 & 2174. But, no one can be sure. If you doubt how accurate this info is, I'd say still apply. You would only be out courier costs (+ a little time) and at the very least, you will be ready for when Express Entry opens in January 2015.

You won't be able to see anything in ECAS until 3-4 months after your application has been received and you have been issued a file number. Once you have a file number, you'll be able to check the status of your application here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp

ECAS is a way of checking in what stage your application is, it means Client Application Status. For using it you should have the UCI number that comes in PER along with other personal details. Here is the link.

Hello, welcome!

No worries, we were all noobs at one point, lol.

ECAS - Electronic Client Application Status, an official CIC service which allows you to view the status of your application on-line.

In my signature, there is a link to the FSW2014 spreadsheet which has a sheet with some other common abbreviations. You should also add your details to the spreadsheet, if you haven't already.
