Guys,

I second you....

As per my understanding, banks in Canada offers variety of promotional offers to new immigrants. There are couple of reputed banks such as Scotia and TD, offers the same. Such as free checkbooks, minimum balance waive off, free goodies, and free teller and card services are among these. These may vary from bank to bank and some times it varies from branch also. I would still encourage to open the bank account there itself, once you land, and the services, charges and offers suites you very best. I believe opening the bank account and applying the credit card is among the high priority activities after your landing. In-fact some banks also offers you instant credit card, it means from that day itself you can maintain/build your credit history...and that will be very helpful for the future prospects. So, I would say keep your options open, and pick a bank that suits your need.

Cheers!

thanks a lot for the reply..........but the problem is..........I don't know anyone who has opened an account from Pakistan b4 departing.....or I don't know if Canadian banks offer this type of service to Pakistani clients.

There are many other options like Traveler Cards, NRE- NRO accounts, Traveler Cheques, etc. I guess every one is trying to advise you against carrying cash, as it is not the safe.

Good Luck!!

brother I got the point........too much cash is not safe and not wise to carry........thanks for the advice and good luck to you as well.

Hello Guys!!

Have some questions around the PCC - Does CIC ask for PCC once before or after the PER is issued? I need to obtain PCC from USA - did anyon obtain that? The website if really confusing - any help on the process will be greatly appreciated.

Your visa office asks for PCC after PER. If you have been charged then you should start the process ASAP. It could take upto 10 weeks to receive PCC from USA.

brother if going by the rules then u have to submit pcc along with ur app......but even without that ur app can be accepted and u can submit pcc later on. if u haven't submitted it along with app, then the wise thing is to start obtaining ur pcc as soon as u get per, and send it along with a cover letter to ur vo.

good luck.

If a certificate is not in English or French, submit both the certificate and the original copy of a translation
prepared
by an accredited translator.
and where could I find an accredited translator? ?

Mine is CC payment mode.

You should still wait for another 10-12 days. PER is waiting.

brother actually I don't know if Punjabi is office language anywhere in Pakistan or india.....I never heard anyone with such claim.....that's why I thought may be u were joking. anyways its good to know that Punjabi is also used as office language. get ur docs translated, notarize/attest them and submit with a cover letter.

good luck buddy.

I don't know abt india but in Pakistan if something is not in English and u have to submit it for visa or immigration purposes then all u have to do is get that translated in English, go to foreign affairs and get it attested from there. that's it nothing else needed and just submit it.

may be same procedure from india.

Bro,

Your turn will come, but after some wait. None of the 18th June applicants have even been charged yet, leave aside PER.
Wait for another 20 days or so to hear from CIC.

Relax till then. All the best !!

PCC is a mandatory doc, but can be deferred and submitted after PER, though advisable to submit upfront.

Also FBI fingerprinting and PCC issuance for US takes time. So Check urgently with someone who has got this done before.

PER will take around 30 days, but charge will be done before that, so said minimum 20 days.
