I think making a covering letter explaining the whole thing is better idea rather than opening a new account which might take time.

Its like 82 days since app received by CIC, how does one know if application is accepted?
1. Are we expected to receive email which means - PER?
2. Also do they send email for application rejection if the application is incomplete or they return the application by mail that's all?

Thanks,
Tux
CIC is currently working on 12-13th May Applications. You will have to first wait for CC charge / dd encashment.. Then you will get PER

got it ! the issue is on our usa visa expiry is april 2015 and as a matter of fact we know it will be extended further for 3 years. but how to document the fact and let CIO know is my concern

hope i am not risking the entire application process opting for ottawa :(
Go for CPC-Ottawa. If your authorization in US expire before they start processing, they will request you the new I-797. Looking at the current processing trends, CPC-Ottawa is the best option. good luck!

FOR RESIDENTS OF SAUDI ARABIA

I just wanted to share the process of getting PCC request letter from Canadian Embassy in Saudi Arabia (BTW, you cannot get PCC from Saudi Arabia without showing an official PCC request letter from Canadian embassy).

Just remember that PCC is valid for one year, but it has to be issued during the last 3 months (see the below link). I am not sure if it is 3 months before application submission date or 3 months before VO requests PCC).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

If you are a resident of Saudi Arabia for more than a year, you have the option to choose London as VO. Of course you can still choose VO responsible for your country of nationality.

-----------------------

Dear Madam/Sir,

In order to assist you with your required Police Clearance Certificate, please send your Immigration file number. Police Clearances only have one year validity.

If you are applying from London or Abu Dhabi no assistance will be provided and you will need to contact your Immigration Office.

The Visa Section provides Police Clearance request letters either by Registered Mail, which is free but requires 15 days shipping time OR by ARAMEX, where you will have to pay for the shipment that will be received the following day.

Please inform us about the type of shipment you have chosen and the number of copies required. (Dependents aged 18 years and above also require a Police Clearance Certificate if they are applying with you.)

Please also add your mailing address, contact number, Immigration file number (if applicable) , as well as the country in which you are applying for immigration, by e-mail in order to receive your request.

Kindly follow the below instructions to obtain a PCC:

-If you have applied for immigration at the Canadian High Commission in London, please send your request by e-mail to: london-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca

-If you have applied at the Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE, please send your request by fax (971-2) 694-0396 or e-mail to: abu-dhabi-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca

-If you have applied for immigration in any other office AND if you are residing in Riyadh please send us an e-mail with the name of the Immigration Office handling your application, your immigration file number, full name, and the number of copies needed. (Dependents aged 18 years and above also require a Police Clearance if they are applying with you.) We will then add your name to the gate list so that you can collect your PCC letter from the gate at the Canadian Embassy in Riyadh (Sunday - Thursday, 08:00 - 16:00)

-If you have applied for immigration in any other office and if you are residing in Eastern Saudi Arabia ( Dammam, Dhahran, AlKhobar, Jubail, Hofuf,...), please send us an e-mail with the immigration office handling your application, your immigration file number, mailing address, mobile number and which mailing service you prefer your package to be sent by. The Visa section provides Police Clearance Certificates either by Registered Mail, which is free but requires 15 days shipping time OR by Aramex, where you will have to pay for the shipment that will be received the following day.

- If you have applied for immigration in any other office and you are residing in Western Saudi Arabia (Jeddah, Taif, Makkah, Medina, Tabuk, Abha, Khamis Mushayt,..) please send your request to the Canadian Consulate in Jeddah by e-mail to: canada.consulate.jeddah @ mattarest.com.
If you are residing outside of Saudi Arabia, please contact the nearest Saudi Embassy.

ALWAYS INCLUDE YOUR IMMIGRATION FILE NUMBER IN YOUR REQUEST TO OBTAIN A PC.

Regards,
Visa Section

you may want to get the letter on a company letter head. Doesn't have to be your previous company. It can be his/her current company. This gives more authenticity to their testimony. Plain paper is not always a good idea.

Copy will be fine...but keep the originals with you...in-case visa office may ask in future... also kindly refer the CIC document checklist for the same.

Don't forget to mention in covering letter.

Once you get PER mail from Immigration office, then it clears that your app is accepted.
PER means positive evaluation review - (initial clearance)
Then whether to give you visa or not based on further investigation on your case is purely depend on your Visa office.

My debit card has not been charged yet.
I am moving to new address by end of this month.
How should I update my address with CIC right now?

I know once I have UCI, it will be easy but is there anything that I should be doing now?
Also, they won't be sending anything through mail initially...right?
I have mentioned my email in the application.

Sorry in case this question has been answered before.

Just a note.
PER is familiar as Positive Eligibility Review..

But what we see in the email is the below words:
"...your application has received a positive determination of eligibility to be processed..."

So there is nothing called PER anymore.. LOL

Should we rename it as PDE = Positive Determination of Eligibility

Just kidding guys :D

Thanks Dhanu, Indersingh.
