Question about the choice of NOC

We all have seen that there are overlaps between certain closely related NOCs.

Nevertheless, the principal applicant is supposed to choose a best-fit NOC as the primary occupation for his/her application. But in case the applicant's choice (of the primary NOC code) is not appropriate (in the eyes of CIC), or that the duties fall partially under two NOCs. My question then is that would the CIC care to correct that for the candidate, and consider him/her for that other NOC which they think fits better ? Or the case would be closed in such a situation ?

This is a question for CIC, but the level of experience floating in this group might help understand how CIC would react in this kind of a situation.

Thanks & Regards

PS: Or one should just file two separate applications in the first place. Each with 'exactly same duties and reference letter' but named under different primary NOC. That would be a sheer waste of money I believe.

@ dm

Its a tough call to say whether you will have a chance or not by end of Aug.
looking at trend 2171 is less populated than 2174... so better to pitch for 2171.

Overall timeline for PR is break up of CIO time (~ 10 weeks) + local VO time (vary significantly from 15 days MR - CPO to 1 + yrs- SGP VO)

Stay positive and apply ASAP !!

Guys,

Please answer my post.

I now have my Education results from WES.
But in achieving that my previous IELTS of 30th June 2012 -- > since more than 2 years. Is this invalid ?
Most likely the next IELTS Date available is 02ND August, Results to be available by August 15.
So most likely, I shall only be able to submit my Application FSWP by end of August.
Guys,
Does this give me a chance for 2171, or 2174.
Please advise.
Also, once application is accepted by CIC, that is the overall timeline to consider for PR.

Appreciate your response.

In 2011 or earlier forms.. the Ques 12 a). asks Applicants to fill 3 NOC's in order of priority ... which they removed from FSW 2013 8)

So, early birds will essentially walk out of PR/ PER for sure in atleast one of the three NOC's, "IF CIO Considers application for Other NOC". It won't do a justice to remaining Applicants in the queue of anOther NOC ..given the tight Cap scenes 8)

[size=9pt] I believe CIC will simply penalize the person selecting the NOC that he / she is not 'adequately' fit for, and return the application. And I am in agreement on this one with CIC. Point is everyone here should be capable of selecting their NOC, no matter the similarities. It is somewhere clearly stated that the prime responsibility is of the applicant to apply to the correct NOC.

Thanks for replying Oscar7.

I am also for strict evaluation of the applications for such basic things. But there is certainly a lot of 'wrong' classification that has been done in the NOC listing by HRSDC.

This is not a question of not being able to choose if you are, say a Civil Engineer or a Computer Engineer, i.e between 0XXX and 5XXX. It is mostly a difference between their XXX1 and XXX2 classification structures.

That is a news to me. Looking at the overlaps at the HRSDC website, I think it was a wise thing that they provided choice of 3 NOCs by priority.

There are other ways to tackle the caps and large number of applications, not by making it tough for the applications unnecessarily.

Thanks for the input.

Hi all,

About a month ago my cc got encashed (no PER yet) and I have not included PCC in my application. I was wondering if anyone knows when the visa office will ask for it.
Unfortunately, it seems it would take about 4 months to get my PCC. I was worried about it and I do not know how much time local visa office will let us to send the PCC after requesting it. I would appreciate anyone's idea about this issue.

Thanks in advance
Please help me about this :(

Firstly, you haven't mentioned your Local VO in the post ??

how can you expect some one will help you with incomplete information.

Given you case CC already charged so better intiate the PCC process (if its gonna take you 4 months) instead of collecting gyaan 8)

Thanks for reply (even it was harsh), I already initiated my PCC process and my local VO is CPC-Otawa. I was not thinking that my question is related to location of VO otherwise I was mentioning it. My question was more general, if anyone knows when they ask for PCC and how many days they let us to provide it.

Hi All,
My birth certificate does not have my name but has both my parents name. Will it work? Also, I have not attached my secondary certificates, so in that case will the birth certificate work? or does my application stand a chance of rejection?

rgds,
For future reference, Get an affidavit from municipal office saying that as per section 14 of "birth and death registration act of 1969" , they cannot add child's name once he/she is older than 15 years. You don't even have to give them this language as they will write it from their own side. They know such cases very well as it's pretty common for people born in 1980's and before. This doc is considered as government issued official affidavit.

[size=9pt] May be then I am guilty of not looking through NOCs very carefully. According to me CIC has done an excellent job with the NOC guide, and even the xxx1 and xxx4 NOCs seem distinct enough such that 75% folks can tell clearly where they fit better versus which one is not a good fit. Finance NOCs, Engineering NOCs, Several Manager NOCs, Medical NOCs and Accounting NOCs all seem quite distinct not just from each other but also from sub-categories within each of these fields. Just my take though!

PS - The only people that can easily talk about moving from one NOC to another seem the IT folks especially with 2171, 2173 and 2174 NOCs though again sometimes that is mostly driven by which one is better suited to 'avoid rush'

I agree for the most part. But for the sub classifications of the major groups (between professional and technical groups within each major NOCs), overlap is possible.

In my specific case, I have an early experience that resonates well with the technical occupation of the major group of my NOC, but then I have studied further, and am now qualified for the professional occupation of my NOC. Now for the experience points in the primary application, I need to choose a NOC code (i.e. professional occupation). That is why I was wondering if CIC will just take care of it themselves and consider the earlier technical occupation experience as enough for the application, or change my NOC appropriately.

Although I myself can also mention my primary occupation (and the NOC code) as the technical (and not professional one) because that is also open for FSW 2014. But that would go against the qualification requirements listed under the NOCs. I know that educational qualifications are for other job related purposes only, but still, it will also seem like a misfit. I mean, CIC might also say that why would someone with an educational qualification corresponding to a professional occupation applying under a technical (like technologist/technician) occupation.
