Hi,

I am going to start the application shortly. I am in the Financial services sector. Can someone guide me on the steps I should take to submit my application in time? Also, should I employ the services of a law firm or is it advisable to apply on your own?

Regards,
Keshav

Hi whatisinthename,

Although there is nothing in the name, but everything is in an NOC's name. I just mean that your NOC might be filling fast, so the quickest route is one that of multi-tasking.

You need to

-get IELTS test result report (sooner the better)
-get your highest degree assessed, make arrangements to send asap, and get ECA report
-get documents like Work Experience (very critical) and birth, marriage certificates etc ready
-fill the forms carefully (shouldn't take much time, but keep doing and ask specifics here)
-see if have enough settlement funds, or make arrangement for the same

-getting Police certificate is not mandatory at initial stage, but if possible, request for it now too.

All these things are mentioned in the following application guide in gory details. For the rest and less-understood, come back here. We all are learning by sharing and experience.

Guide : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp
Forms : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp
ECA : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp
PCC : http://www.cic.gc.ca/englisH/information/security/police-cert/index.asp
Funds : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

Regards

PS: A law firm will also ask you to arrange all these documents, but will take care that the application is complete and error-free. It should be your choice depending on the time (and extra money) you have for them. Filling an application is not a complicated task, but one has to be fully aware of all the instructions (as in the links above). This forum, being a mix of people with varied experiences will always have an answer, or educated guess for any type of concern that you might have. On top of it, it makes the application procedure a fun-journey that you might remember forever. It is apparent when you see people who discussed their applications in the past, eventually landed in Canada, and are still here helping the newbies out.

My application is reached on June 5th under NOC 2173.
I have experience of 7 years as a software developer so i am confused weather i should apply under 2173 or 2174 both seems to be matching NOC.
experts please advice.

Any chances to get into cap? Yet DD has not been charged?

Dear Friends,

How can Canada Citizenship or Canada Residency help you in living and working in USA? Actually USA is my terminal destination and I am using Canada Immigration as a tool. Any advise please :D :D :D

Jamal

Canadian citizens can work in the USA temporarily using TN visa but if your are aiming for the US green card, there is no obvious advantage for canadians. Your plan works only if you want to live in Canada but want to work in the US temporarily. You might as well spend your energy and time in getting a US master's degree and getting H1b if USA is your ultimate destination.

Also, to each their own, but I just want to share my opinion. I have been living in the US for almost 10 years and I would take Canada over US any day. Canada offers the same standard of living and income as the US but has better social and economic safety nets.

If your have already applied, then what's point in worrying now? Your NOC depends on how much of the job duties listed under the particular NOC applies to you. If your duties match substantially with 2173, then you should be good.

YOu can expect to get your DD charged in about a month if you met the quota.

Hey guys,

I want to discuss about NOC 4011..I am having 3+ years experience as a Asstt. Professor in Engineering field.but the confusion is I have B.tech degree only..I found that masters is required. Is it so?????

Moreover, it is also mentioned

Licences or professional certification may be required for professors teaching future practitioners in certain professionally regulated fields, such as medicine, engineering, architecture, psychology or law.

I think btech itself a professional certificate..

Please COMMENT

plzz help me to resolve my confusion.
i finished my
metric, ITI,diploma,Bachelors(Eng) in ---- india
Masters in --- USA

now i am working in USA, i heard if we go through CES for ECA, we can just upload the color photo copy of our education certificates instead of sending certificate copies from U r education Boards with attested, if yes do i need upload all my educations certificates(include ind & us)? in CES.
or
if i need send educational docs with attested in sealed cover, do i need send all the docs(metrics/diploma/engineering) from all my schools.

thanks in advance?

Check the following link for CES for yourself:

http://learn.utoronto.ca/international-professionals/comparative-education-service-ces/ces-services/assessments-for-immigration-purposes

it says you will need to have your educational institutes send the official transcript directly. They don't have any special set of instructions for the US that varies from this requirement.

I think most people here are at the early stages of FSW 2014...we're getting excited about processing fees CC charges and initial PERs so RPRF and MRs are still a distant dream lool

But my opinion is if the VO say they don't want MR now then they simply don't want it. ..my understanding is that MR does come before RPRF usually but maybe it depends on the VO...Which one is it? Maybe more experienced people here can shed light on this...
