" Based on a review of the information you have provided, your application has received a positive determination of eligibility to be processed on the basis of work experience in an occupation specified in the Instructions issued by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism and published in the Canada Gazette on May 1, 2014. However a final decision on your eligibility to be selected as a federal skilled worker will be made by a visa office."

ASSETS - LIABILITIES - TOTAL SETTLEMENT FUNDS

Dear Seniors, I've read different posts and it is not very clear regarding my situation.

I had in my bank account 14.400 CAD borrowed from a friend. I got the statement and I've returned the money 4 weeks ago.

Besides this I have an property that is worth 55000 CAD.

For two persons we need to provide proof of funds of at least 14.720. Am I good to go with 14.400 + 55.000 or the proof of funds refers only to bank account amount ? If I had another 320 CAD besides the 14.400 we would not have this discussion ... :)

Thank you,

Your information says you are applying under PNP. Are you PNP or FSW?

First of all borrowed funds CANNOT be used as settlement funds. Representing borrowed money as your own is a misrepresentation. Settlement funds are your own or your spouse's money ONLY and only includes liquid and unencumbered funds, which does not include property. You will be required to bring the settlement funds with you to Canada when you land, can you do that? Plus the local VO may ask for updated proof of funds at any time.

Just FYI

Hi All,

I am new to this forum.
I have applied for WES and the status is in process, while filling the online form of WES, institution name I have mentioned as my college name, in the transcript request form candidate filling part also I did the same, but the university registrar mentioned university name in the authority filling section. Is that a problem, by institute they meant college only right? Any idea WES how long it will take, will it get delivered by the time they have mentioned in the notification mail?

Thanks & Regards,
Joseph

Dont worry...WES will evaluate based on the true information they receive from your school.
Your transcripts will have all your details...not forgetting the verification that will be done.
Currently,WES says it takes average of 20days to complete after receiving and accepting all your documents.

Cheers!

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it :)

The information is kind of misleading.

1. In the PROOF OF FUNDS page (date modified 2014-04-03), it says that:
These funds could be in the form of:
- cash
- documents that show property or capital payable to you (such as stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.) or

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

2. In the check list, point 15, they describe the settlement funds as
- current bank certification letter
- evidence of savings balance
- fixed or time deposit statement
But they still provide for more info the link from above, regarding the proof of funds, where they specify property ... pffff

They don't specify "property" they specify "property or capital payable to you (such as stocks bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.)"

It is stated in this way because stocks and bonds represent a claim on the money or assets of a company or the entity issuing the bond.

I agree it is not very clear and CIC doesn't provide a lot of guidance on this. But rest assured, settlement funds are only liquid and unencumbered assets. CIC also states clearly that the money must actually be yours and not borrowed from anyone else.

confirmation from rajaram_friend, no email so far.

Will keep the forum posted
