Dear Brother,

Although notarization is not mentioned on the Doc checklist/guide specifically...

Atleast for SGVO applicants (since SGVO has asked for more educational docs with notarization on later stage of application to several applicants)...following is my opinion:

Since notarization is a controversial matter..several times this issue has been discussed on various thread...

I would suggest u to avoid all confusion/controversial matters. U can notarized all the photocopies u r going to submit.

Since notarization of a document will not affect ur file where its not required/but absence of notarization will affect where it is required.

Actually, in the FSWP Application Guide (IMM 7000, the last link in the list of forms in the application kit page), in "Step 1 - Gather Documents", under "Translation of Documents", it is stated:

Any document that is not in English or French must be accompanied by:

- the English or French translation; and

- an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and

- a certified copy of the original document.

This is followed by a section that expands on what they consider a certified copy.

So, in my opinion, for every document that is not in english or french, you need to certify (or notarize) the photocopy. My consultant did not agree, and told me I could send simple copies, but I didn't want to risk it, and certified every copy of a foreign language document. As ashif_eee said, sending a certified/notarized copy when not required will not affect your application, but failing to send one when required most certainly will. Better safe than sorry.

Guys please reply if anyone has come though this query before or any expert view on the same

I did the following mistakes. My application is sent and recieved in NS.
The below mistakes are in the New Generic form
1) page 3, in Spouse personal details i have not provided given name exactly as mentioned in the passport. e.g i mentioned Dean Jones instead of DeanJones. Will this be ok since it is cleary mentioned in the application to provide details as mentioned in passport
Don't worry you should be ok. That's just typo.

2) In dependents details section, page 4, question no. 16 it should be my First Name and Last Name or My Spouse First Name and Last Name? I entered my Spouse First Name and Last Name. If i entered incorrect, Will this effect? if so what way?
Its already says Dependent detail section. You being primary applicant, all your information will be on first few pages of Generic form. So that means you have to include your spouse's detail (Dependent section) which will be from 3 or 4th page of Generic Form. That's correct so you don't have to worry about it.

I am unable to get PCC from my home country and my current country of residence, it will take at least 3 weeks to get PCC.
Can anyone please tell me what to write in cover letter for not including PCC.
Many Thanks.

CIO will not bother about notarization. So it is not necessary for them.

Now here comes the VO. In the Indian subcontinent, people has a opinion that if something has been notarized, it is true else there could be something wrong. Note that, in a VO, initial investigation and checking is done by local staffs and not by Canadian. So, if they culturally believe that notarization added credibility, do notarization to avoid delay of further investigation.

So, in short, if the VO is situated in a country where mass people believe that notarization add credibility, then do notarization, else ignore it. It is not required for CIO. And this is my thought - it may not be accurate.
