Lot of the advice here might be correct and some might not be correct. I seek help from forums, but finally take my decision. There are people with good and genuine intention to help, as well as the negative type.

Some people just give ''what ever comes to mind" type of input, some try to mislead , some give genuine advice. Like in any forums, you need to filter the inputs judiciously.

Few things from my experience.

1. Only follow instructions given clearly in the checklist and reference documents. Do not try to deviate..

For work experience I have seen in few posts that affidivats can be option... Affidavits is not an option at all, unless you have a letter from your company it's not gonna work and your application will be rejected. So unless you have letter from your company do not send your application.

2. Write a covering letter. Although it's not mandatory, it's better to have one. Write one where you can show the points you received and how you received the points and the proofs you are keeping.

3. Birth certificates, if you do not have one you can submit 10th certificate or an affidiavit. Please be careful when you submit 10th certificate, it should have either of your parents name. 10th certificates of some boards (like ICSE), do not have parents name so they will be invalid and your application will be returned.
Last year there were few applicaitons rejected, because of Birth certificate issues.

4. Documentation work is not easy, it is a time taking process. Take couple of days off from your work and spend for documentation. Review your packet thoroughly.. Any small mistake (like signature missing, date missing) your app will be rejected rightaway.

5. You need to show proof only for settlement funds. Proof is not needed for Assets and Liabilites.

6. For DD you can approach Thomas cook or Standard chattered. Most other banks , esp nationlized, give DD valid for 3 month only.

If using CC, confirm with your bank if you can do a international transaction and if there are any limits. Also tell them about a expected canadian transaction.

7. From some parts of India UPS is a faster option to NS. So enquire with both Fedex and UPS and send your packet... Every day counts.

Packets sent on Friday or Saturday usually reach on the same day as the packets will be held up on sunday at a base location. So utilize the additional day if you are sending packet on Friday for a review.

8. Last year the time taken from application to visa from New Delhi office is about 10-12 months. So this new FSWP is quite faster.

10. It takes about forty five days to two months time for you to know the next status of your application. Till then zero inputs, first input to you will be charging of CC. If your CC is charged you are mostly done.

11. For WES documents, some universities take lot of time. U need to find out a DESI way to have this faster :)

Thanks, this is very helpful.

Regarding work experience, I'm currently new to my job and don't plan to claim points for my this as I'm been in this work for 8-months only. My previous experience will have enough points. Is it okay if I'm going to submit my company letter without the job duties as i'm not claiming points for the experience? I had a company letter with complete job description in my previous job.

My other concern - my passport will expire on December2014 and my Wife's passport on May 10, 2014. Renewal would take time and I'm afraid that my NOC will be filled very soon. I need advise if I should go ahead and submit my application despite the concerns in passports expiry dates? Thanks for the help in advance.

Thought of going for DD but I used CC finally after verifying with my Bank. I enquired with few nationalized banks they said they cant give more than 3 months.

Thomas cook is certainly an option, but heard that Stan chartered is a choice for six month DD..

Go for icici bank, I got my DD from them in one day.
The validity of icici bank DD is 6 months. Also, you can bargain for good deal on conversion rate.

You need not show your current company exp if you are not claiming those points, and have sufficient points elsewhere.

I'am not exactly sure about the passport thing...May 10 is almost there, dont think you can continue applying with that passport.

Hi Wanderer24X7,

Now that you mention, could you please let us know if there is any validity period mentioned on the ICICI DD itself?

Look forward to your reply

Dear migratecanada2012,

I will suggest u to return back ur file immediately...

Ur file will be returned by CIC on later stage just dew to the shhortage of this document....Request earnestly to ur courier compnay not to deliver and return it to u ....

Let us knw the update of ur file ...

Best of luck

Yes, request your courier to not deliver and return the packet.. Marriage certificate having DOB column is not going to work.. Did you submit a 10th certificate(Secondary school), if it has your parents name and DOB it will be sufficient. Othewise applications with out DOB certificate will be rejected.

Under Section12b of Schedule 3, " Starting with your current occupation, list your occupation within the 10 yrs..." I'm thinking to show my current job their and write my job duties as well but will not put NOC and tick Less than 1-yr ? appreciate your help on this..

Hi Friends, May be I'm repeating the questions already asked in this forum. Please redirect me to the topic if that is answered already. My question is :
I'm planning to get the reference letter from one of my colleague from previous company since the company is not helping me to get a reference letter with duties and responsibilities as CIC is expecting. So I'm planning for both of the letters mentioned below.

1. Do i have to get the reference letter from a colleague done in a stamp paper (In that case what is amount of stamp paper in India) notarized ? or It has to be in a plain paper describing duties and responsibilities, hours, salary etc. with their contact details and business card

2. Also do I have to submit a affidavit or statuary declaration in a stamp paper stating the above reference letter is true (In that case what is amount of stamp paper in India) notarized?

or
In the absence of colleague
1. Do i have to submit an affidavit done in a stamp paper (Stamp paper amount in India?) with all the main duties and responsibilities, hours, salary etc. notarized ?
