Employer verification / Background checks at CPC-Ottawa VO?


I hate if VO would call my current employer to inquire about my job roles.
My employer is kind to give me an experience letter with no questions.

I never wanted my employer to know that I'm working towards canada PR.

ANYBODY receive a call to their employer from the VO?

I hate that too...But I never see the CPC-O back ground check inquires on this forum and hope it is not going to perform any...

But for some reason, CPC-O has slowed down the PR processing speed..

normally people who immigrate have family support..... financial, emotional and ethical. the 1st 3 years are important....people need to settle down, need to get education upgrade, need to get job, get kids into schools, look for house....but in all these hassles there comes the main thing that how much funds u have or u can have to struggle for a start with no worries that ur fund gona deplete anytime in coming 4 to 6 years.

now financially means, after immigrating they can get financial aid from their families, countries when ever they want......let it be small ones but they do. or they have some backup plan like they have land or property which they can sell or any other investment.

my case is a bit different, people here are jealous if someone gets something good and going abroad as an immigrant means a lot big thing to them. im counting on CAD40000 that I have, plus complete commitment, firm determination and strong struggle I m gona put in along with my wife and a kid. my wife is specialist physician and she will support us as well. we are young...didn't touched our 29 yet ! but we don't have any property or investment or anything else.

so the people who are already there, have started their lives......I just want to have an idea that 40k bucks are ok to start from scratch with say no support what so ever from family people or country? is it a safe bet? what else should we consider for our specific case?

Immigration itself is a bet and risk....but we cant expect to have arranged house, job, money etc well in advance before migrating to another country, leaving home country.... I am also a MBBS graduate and fully aware of situation esp for doctors in canada... Best thing, try to save money as much as, and dont expect to get job etc with current credentials, get them updated with masters program etc (thats too in my mind), Admission in Master program itself cost around 15000 CAD as of total ( 2 yrs) but it varies ...

Ive got a question. I am july 17 applicant and havent heard about it.

If someone has application under process and gets married, he can just inform the VO and get his spouse added. Does it affects any points or somthing else on the application except for paying fee for another member?

Secondly, how would one sponsor his spouse if he gets married after he has been issued the visa. would it easy process or a longer process?

Once you receive you application/file number and by that time, if you get married, you MUST inform your visa office immediately, It is mandatory... Failure to do so may result in rejection lateron....Inform visa office through E-mail and CSE, and same time prepare updated documents for addition of your spouse..

You are the principal applicant, and must have calculated your eligible points, so adding up spouse will not make any difference to your application, it is out of question.

I applied on may 22,2014...
The problem was demand draft.which was valid for only 3 months.

Demand draft date - 6th may..so it must have expired by 6th august,2014.

SO, by the time they checked my file, it is no longer valid.

So is it possible to submit the demand draft again or will I get my application back?

HELP PLEASE
I am 18th June applicant NOC: 1114 haven't heard a thing about my application....so depressed right now...however I am keeping an eye on spreadsheet and haven't came across any applicant under same NOC (except one) that has been charged on or after 18th June....so can I assume that CIO is busy charging hot NOCs. Is there any hope for me.
p.s: I have emailed CIO on 10th October havent heard from them either.... :'( :'(

Sorry, but I don't see rather you haven't posted "shared" the official confirmation which you recd (as quoted below)- from NDVO, i suppose. I think you should have done it proactively given the fuss you created on the matter ('doubts')

Yes, there were lot of posts which said online is valid for NDVO but there was few posts which were in contrary. So the confusion.

I could get a official confirmation on this, that online is valid. So we can now say online is 100 percent valid, no more doubts! May be moderators can add this point in a Q&A blog so that people would not be worried by contrary posts.


Also I would like to put that, unless if someone is 100 percent sure let's not put information on this forum as it will confuse many people. If someone is not sure, then they can put a comment "This is what I think, but not sure".

Many Congrats for losing your money... finally !!
Could you pls share the copies of declined payment for CC.

Initially my file was reached on May 7th!
They attempted to charge on CC three times between June 12- June 24 and I received my file back on July 2nd with a letter saying we are returning your file as the payment did not go through! they also attached the copies of declined payment! No PER/NER was issued!
Though they asked me to attach the letter of returned application in my new application! I resent my file the next day and it reached CICon July 8th
