Yes true reference letter is one of "THE" important document.
Letter should be -
- on company letter head
- signed by the supervisor/HR
- show the complete company address, fax, email etc
- stamped with company seal(if applicable)
Content of teh letter
MUST include following as mentioned in document checklist i.e.
- the specific period of your employment with company
- the positions you held in your tenure
- time spent in each position
- main responsibilities and duties of each position
- your total annual salary in each position
- the number of hours worked per week
Also include -
- u r a Permanent employee
With this letter it is "advised" to submit following additional documents -
- copy of work contract
- payslips
