Background verification and security checks

Hello all,

I recently read a post on this forum where in applicant is banned for 2 years by NDVO on account of negative employer verification and it was a physical verification done by VO/3rd party appointed by VO.

My queries are:
1. Can CIC also do verification (if not physical, maybe online etc.) or verification is only done by VO.

2. Do they do physical verification in extreme cases only where the quotient of doubt is high or is it common.

3. I have given business card of my manager and letter heads also provide his number as he happens to be the MD of company as well, will verification call go to manager's mobile or it can also be done on landline.

And lastly any suggestions would be highly appreciated to avoid negative verification.

P.S. I read another post saying to sync your social media profile @ FB, linkedin etc as verification can be done on social media sites too. Beware friends make changes accordingly if required.

Enquiries can be conducted Physically also. But normally online or Telephonically

Please tell what will be the next step after payment charge(10 sept) and PER received(17 sept).

One more query for how many months PCC is valid, and if somebody lives 9 months in another country but not continuous 6 months than also PCC for that country is required?

The next after PER: AOR (yet, not all Vo's send it), MR, RPRF, PCC (if more than a year from issuing date!), Passport Req, and then your passport will be returned with Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and your permanent resident visa valid for one year (from the date of Medical exam)!
From CIC website: "You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18." So, we are required to provide PCC's from only the foreign countries where we stayed continuously for 6 mnths+.

Hi All,

I am just finalizing my package to be sent today/tomorrow. Could you please help me with the following last minute query:

Can we write the title of a document on the copies that I am submitting? E.g. I want to write "Promotion Letter" or "Joining Letter' on the copies substantiating the experience letter, in order to ensure they go through the documents correctly.

I am adding a cover letter before the experience letters, and guiding them through the information presented. Doing this since most of my info is across multiple evidences.

A cover letter is a good idea, especially if you need to clarify any particular area of your application. I included a cover letter on my application.

Dev bro !! relax. No one is misguiding here. People are doing their own maths considering different parameters and coming out with their estimates. Everybody will have different ways to calculate.

In fact, they are spending their precious time and working estimates for the benefit of all, so that we get a fair idea. Noone is claiming that their calculations or predictios are 100% right. So if you don't agree to someone's calculations, do your own maths and present it on the forum giving reasons.

I still don't have any information from CIO regarding the MR or the visa office,
but one the egyptian members here write that he got the MR from CPC, knowing that his file was received 9 May and PER 18-8

Could anybody advise what i have to do in this situation, Do i have to send an email to CIO to request the information? or what i have to do now?

Don't worry brother. I see you are talking about namwbysbd. His VO has been transferred to CPC-Ottawa for some reason. As CPC-Ottawa process faster, so he got MR. Wait for your turn to come.

BTW, please update your status in the spreadsheet. Without knowing applicants status and update, it is not possible to help other.

Hello All!!!

I have gotten my PER. Thanks everyone for yours guidance.

My details are as below:
NOC 2132
Application Date May 28th
Payment Cashed (DD): Sept 12th
ECAS Update Date: Sept 16th
PER Date: Sept 19th
Visa Office: NDVO

Now time for questions/queries

1.) I have moved to USA 3 weeks on H1B; so shall I update CIC or NVDO on my new employment and change of address (India to US)?
2.) Also, I got married on June 30th (After application date). How, when, and where shall I apply to change my status (single to married) and include my wife on my application?
3.) Will there be a longer delay in my case since I have changed employment, residence, and marital status?
4.) How long is generally/typically taking for NVDO applicants to get MR after PER?
5.) If possible, can I change my visa office from New Delhi to CPC-Ottawa? If yes, is there any benefit of doing the same?

Hello,

I have a question on PCC.

I am currently reside in Bangalore from 1st June 2008. Since birth till May 24th 2008 I was in Mangalore and that's my hometown. These two cities are in the same state.

Address on my passport - is my home I twon address. Passport issued center is bangalore, passport issue date is 20th June 2008.

Now will PSK as me to apply for a new passport with the current address (bangalore) ? This is my temporary address as I work in bangalore.


What's the way to get PCC without changing the addres on passport.

In my opinion no need of cover letter

Cover letter is more than sufficient to guide the officer. Writing on the documents may make them look clumsy.

1400 CAD is almost 80000...And your daily international usage limit is only Rs 40,000 !!!!

Pls get this checked immediately and increase the international limit usage to Rs 1,00,000. Else you may find yourself in trouble.

Hi All,

I am a June 2nd applicant and had a DD from ICICI Bank. I can see that CIC has starting charging June 4th as well.

ICICI Bank officers say that they can't confirm if my DD is charged by CIC. Is there any other person on forum who had DD from ICICI bank and advise me how I can know my DD charge status.
