[size=9pt] Thanks for sharing, mate! :) And sorry about the hassle.

BTW, why did you choose Edmonton? Any specific reason brother?

My (limited) research tells me TD is the best bank for general banking needs; has lots of branches and longer hours of operations among other benefits.

Scotia bank is not rated near best by any standards, and Canadian banking in general is rated 'okay types' both as per new comers from even developed countries and also by their Canadian counterparts. You should be looking for a good bank basis your specific needs e.g. what allows you to develop credit fast relatively at a lesser cost to you, or if one needs education loans in the near future etc. etc. Good luck & happy settlement in Canada! :)

Thanks dude!!!

No such reason for Edmonton!!!

Hi All,
My hubby and I are in the midst of preparing the documents for submission.
Is it necessary now to provide a police report or it can be done later when asked?
Also, is a highschool (secondary) diploma necessary too?

Thanks.

Can you provide format for Settlement funds declaration ?

Is there any evaluation document required for mentioning house as an asset ?

Thanks in advance..

Hi all

After a long delay I finally got my application returned from CIC. The letter date is 2 July and it arrived on Saturday. The reason for rejection is that there is insufficient evidence that the job duties required under 2171 were performed as set out in the employer letter.

This is not a huge surprise as my reference letter from my employer was provided last year for 2147. As that noc code is not open I applied under 2171. My job title is Account Manager which is definitely 2171 however I wasn't able to get a revised letter. The problem I had was my employer does not give detailed reference letters and I lied and said I needed a job duties letter for an MSC application. That somehow worked and I listed all my jobs and duties at that employer (since 2001) including Service Delivery Manager, Service Delivery Engineer, Network Engineer, Sales Engineer and now Account Manager.

As I've said, the vast majority of my experience is 2147 but I currently work under 2171. I also have experience of 2281 but I moved from Service Delivery in September 2004 so I believe that experience is too old??

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to move forward? I read something on here previously about self attested duties- is that just for self employed people? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hi!!

I used the same card too, and had raised in question.. everyone told me to relax, it will definitely work without the Secure Code. :)
True. 3D secure is triggered only for internet purchases. So, hope you are relieved from your tension.

Sorry mate!

Do you mean your reference letter was signed last year and had all the duties as listed for 2147 , but your intended occupation this year is 2171?

You can take letter from your colleague or supervisor on a plain paper . Include other supporting documents as listed on the checklist.

[size=9pt] Hi dear, Sorry about the news but the good part even in this bad news is at least you had a sense of what might be the reason.

Nothing much to worry, I believe you should reapply in 2171 quickly. Yes 2281 will not be considered as it is more than 10 years ago. The key to a successful application will be your new reference letter which you can take from a senior / supervisor in a personal capacity on plain A4 paper, if one is not available on company letter head by HR. Also provide supporting documents like pay slips copy for 3 months, joining offer letter copy and tax documents etc. as much as you can. Makes the case stronger and also avoids background checks and /or interviews possibilities later in the process.

Just ensure it matches well with the NOC guide lead statement and main duties (around 70% or more is my thumb rule, though I like to play extra safe) :)

Best wishes! :)

PS - Self attested duties are not the way to proceed in my (limited) opinion. Success rate is very less, if at all.

PPS - It looks again CIC has become slow in returning applications (like last year) if a Jul 2nd sent mail has reached to UK around this time. That sucks! :-X

Thanks very much for the reply. Have personal letters from supervisors been accepted in the past? Appreciate the response.

Thanks for response. The letter did list my job as Account Manager with a few duties but it was deemed as not sufficient evidence of experience in that NOC. When I drafted the letter for my employer to sign last year I had focused on 2147.

Plus there are several others in the forum who have a successful experience of this. Good luck! :)

CIO is is a recognized body and not an online merchant. Most of the banks don't require pin when CIO charges your card.
So don't worry!
PIN is for withdrawing money from ATM and confirming your purchase with the card physically present (i.e. at the cashier). A valid online shop will NEVER require to input your PIN, only CVV/CVC code and 3D secure (text message containing a confirmation code) if this system is implemented by the issuer bank.

What can I declare as a Proof of Funds ?

Acceptable proof of funds are:

bank accounts in your name or the name of your accompanying spouse/common-law partner;
cash-able investments in your name or the name of your accompanying spouse/common-law partner;
cash-able fixed deposits in your name of the name of your accompanying spouse/common-law partner.

Not acceptable are:

bank accounts in someone else’s name;
bank accounts which are joint in your name and someone else (other than your accompanying spouse/common-law partner);
bank accounts in the name of your spouse who is not accompanying you to Canada ;
property valuations;
vehicle valuations;
jewellery valuations.
In short anything is that is volatile (bonds, shares) or that cannot be easily transferred (liquidated) cannot be used as proof of funds.

[size=9pt] Dear Friend, One has to be able to show a minimum of 6 years work exp. with reference letter as per CIC's format to obtain the maximum 15 points. Depending on how badly you need those 15 points to be well above 67 points in total (or as I like to call, well above water lol) you need to chase around for the reference letters for the previous companies. However it is perfectly fine to get it only from last company if:
1 - they give a perfect letter as per CIC's ask,
2 - you are well above 67 with just this one reference letter, and
3 - you submit joining letter and experience certificates for all other jobs that you did in the last 10 years (as that is a mandate from CIC).

Hope that helps! :)

PS - If HR doesn't give in previous companies you can still get from senior / supervisor on plain A4 paper and attach their business card. That is a way around and accepted by CIC 9and will still earn you extra work exp. points). Also supplement with supporting documents in this case e.g. pay slips, joining offer letters or any other material proof. Good luck mate! :)

Thank you so much for your reply.
1. With four year work experience i am getting 73 points. with spouse language adaptability.
2. does the work experience count (to get 15 points) even that is not listed in NOC as in other companies i worked as a Marketing Manager.
3. I was reporting to CEO and he is the one who will not give me the letter. No supervisor involved.
4. from the current company i can only give salary certifiate, bank statement and contract. Will this be enough.
5. for other companies also i can show the same documents.
