I have a question regarding proof of funds when submitting an application. I live in Russia, it's impossible here to open a bank account in Canadian dollars - only russian roubles, US dollars and euros. All my savings are in roubles. I can open an account in USD, but I found out that I will lose a lot of money if I transfer my money from roubles to dollars and back (because of difference in currency exchange rates). Is it possible to submit application to CIC with a bank statements showing funds in national currency (Not in canadian or US dollars)? Maybe somebody here managed to do this?

Buddy now you need to wait for atleast 3 to 4 months for first update from CIC..

Hi bensonams,

CIC don't send AORs.. It's your local Visa Office who send you AOR (receive after few days of your PER mail)...

Account of local currency is more than good enough. Along with the bank statement just provide bank certificate where the bank will provide total balance in roubles along with CAD equivalency amount on a certain day mentioning the exchange rate. All mine statement are BDT (Bangladeshi Currency) and bank certificate provide amount both in BDT and CAD.

Ask British Council that you have applied for Canadian Immigration; they may ask some evidence. Provide those. They will give you another copy.
