"Applicants should provide a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) certificate with fingerprints. State certificates may also be requested. The Visa Office will advise you if state certificates are required in your case.

How and where do I obtain one?

You should:
-get a cover letter and fingerprint card from the FBI. You can download these from the FBI website or write to the address below and have them mailed to you.
-have fingerprints taken. You can have this done by:
-a local police department or
-a private fingerprinting business.
(When you have your fingerprints taken, you will need photo identification.)

include a Certified cheque or money order for the fees, payable to the U.S. Treasury
mail the letter, fingerprints and fee payment to:

FBI, Criminal Justice Information Services Division
Attention: SCU, Mod D-2
1000 Custer Hollow Road
Clarksburg, West Virginia 26306
U.S.A.

Processing times are normally between 16 and 18 weeks. The FBI will send you a letter with the results of their record check. That letter will be your police certificate. You should send the letter and any attached documents to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada office processing your file. All police certificates must be originals. Photocopies will not be accepted by our office. "

It takes around 4-6 weeks to come back.


"Finger printing agency are normal private organizations who will help you take your finger prints in to the Form.

Then you send that form to FBI, USA. For the Return address, I also think in the form, you should use the address of a friend/family in USA or Canada. Because It may take weeks to come back to India. If you ask FBI to deliver it to a USA or Canadian address, it will be faster. Once your family/friends receive your report from FBI, they can forward it to CIC, with your Name, Date of Birth, Application File Number etc.

Hi all,
I am new to the forum.
I just started my PR application. I have one important question.
Last couple of years, I have been working in a startup company..a company started by my friend and me.
So..it is not like a regular corporate job where we get salary every month !!
I dont know whether I can submit Form-16 and running salary credit/bank stmt. (I might get it depending on how our company files the taxes - i have to talk to the CA). I can get all the offer letters, experience letters and reference letters. That is not a problem.
Can someone explain is it "Absolutely necessary" to submit Form-16 and monthly salary/bank stmts. along with the application ?
People who applied to PR previously and got it - please throw some light.

No its not necessary for filing the application but VO can ask it later.

Nomination.....: 10th Jul 13
AOR Received.: 23rd Aug 13

I understand what App. Filed is and what AOR Received date is .

But what is Nomination date ?

How do you plan to show for settlement funds? Bank statements come in handy for this usually.
Form 16 i.e. the tax document is not mandatory to submit nor is the salary slip. But these can be asked for in the later stages i.e. let's say when your file goes to the local Visa Office, NDVO. Especially salary slip and / or bank statement.

Hi,

We have passed from similar situation. But you can get the USA PCC from India as well.
Please follow the steps and shout me for any help.
So here is what you do:

1. Download fingerprint cards (Take 3 or 4 set) from the FBI website.
2. Go to the local police station and get the finger prints done or there are few agencies in India (Mentioned by Ashfee) but they will charge you about Rs.4000 per person.
3. Include credit card form (18USD) (the form is available in the FBI website) and identity proof.
4) The local police station told us that we need to post it ourselves.
5) We included a return envelope with postage paid and posted it to FBI.

I have one more query.... My friend will be sending across his FSW application by second week of July. What will be a good time when he should initiate this process; As I believe PCC older then 3 months is not valid.....

Also; how much time does FBI take from the date of receiving our form... I read somewhere that they take 28 days... is that true??

Settlement funds is not a problem..I have quite a few FDs in the bank for the last couple of years. So that wont be an issue. I worked in US for almost 5 yrs..came back to India and last couple of years..I just tried to do something different by starting our own company..initially it was good but right now looks really tough to get profits. So, I don't know how the Form-16 and salary statements will affect my application.
As you guys said, at a later stage - Visa Office might ask me.
I was just checking whether there is anyone who already got the PR and was specifically asked for these documents(By VO or someone else).

Believe me whatever I or anyone here answers this question will be an educated guess at most...2173 is a "hot" NOC but you've done your bit and no need to worry about it now...hoping that CIC would give us another CAP update just to make things a little clearer
