@ GMS

I don't know. It depends from bank to bank. Some customer focused banks don't even charge it but usually it may range between 500-1,000 INR. You can check with your bank at the time of issuance.

My point was "is DD issuance/cancellation" charges a deciding factor?

I used following factors to decide
1. Reliability
2. Time to obtain the instrument (i.e. if it will delay submission of app)

I don't have the answer to your question, but this fact comes as a surprise to me. The CIC cap updates, for that matter, have such a big lag ? It doesn't then make sense to base one's decision on their list.

I am also going to apply for 2132, but wouldn't be able to make it until the end of July 2014. My chances, if any, are way too slimmer than yours.

Can you tell me what was the date that you applied last year (when CIC showed 85 applicants) ?

Regards
nskatcv,
We're all in d same 2132 boat. I applied about Oct 2013 when d 300 cap wasn't full on the cap update. Got my package back in January that cap was full. I have resent it on the 8th of May 2014. Looking forward to a positive response.
There's a very big lad in cap update. At some point, it makes no sense following it any longer cos they receive lots of applications as the process goes on and they do not process that fast.
My advice is that everyone shd be fast in sending their applications especially for an NOC category as 2132.

All d best

Its not a deciding factor to go for DD or CC.. but its a deciding factor to choose the DD issuer.. anyways, i will check with usual agencies..

I am going with color copies.. but black and white copies should not create any problem if legible..

once you cross certain number of posts, you would see an option on left column to rate anybody.. wait for some more posts from your side..

I too used color photocopies but I don't think B&W copies would cause an issue. If you have the option of going with color do it, the documents look better in color ;D

If by giving points you mean plus one, then you can only give plus one after you have made at least 20 posts on the forum. The option will appear automatically.

In case such things happen with any body in future, what would be the ideal way to handle..?

Is there any option where we inform the CC company to restrict all other type of transaction with CC and only allow transaction in CAD currency..? This can avoid misuse of the lost card and at the same time, we can avoid invalidation of the old card.. After CC is charged by CIO, we can ask for new CC..

If no such facility exist, should we not report the loss of credit card to the credit card company and wait till the CC is charged.. I know this is risky.. whats your opinion experts..?
I thought about doing exactly what you said. Inform the credit card company of the loss and ask them to authorize payment only from a particular location or agency. And once that's done, then only cancel the credit card. But this has never happened to me and I am not sure if the credit card company would be willing to do this (or if it's even feasible !). One cannot prevent an unfortunate event like loss of the card and thus, could happen to any of us. I wish somebody had an idea as to what could be done.

This scenario is a case to case basis, it depends on your bank. My two cents:
1) Schedule a meeting with your bank representative probably supervisor or manager, explain your case and how can they assist you.
2) Most of the banking system right now can detect credit fraud automatically and also they can filter our transactions to automatically reject or cancel it.

@GMS

My apology for not getting your question, well I am not an Indian but Thomas Cook seems to be popular among Indians. Also, heard that ICIC bank calls their customers to inform them to DD encashment (this service is usually not provided by other banks, in fact they can't even provide the status).

I see everybody going for CC or DD option only.. I also read in fee payment form that we can make payment by "Certified Cheque"..

What exactly a "Certified Cheque" is and how we can obtain it..?

If its a type of cheque which will debit money from your saving account, then we can also track the transaction..

Is it not advantageous over DD transaction for FSW at least..? And how is the reliability as compare to CC and DD..??

Thanks for replying. I agree with you.

One thing to note though. 2013 Spreadsheet shows that cap for 2132 was updated as filled, on 12th Nov 2013. But it was actually filled even before October, because you were rejected (having applied in October).

Question is how early was it actually filled ? September ? August ?

I can not apply before 1st August 2014. In that case, do I stand a chance, or shall I just drop the idea to begin with. Already paid for ECA and IELTS though.

you know I am in same situation. The billing address i sent to CIC is wrong, but rest of the card info. (name, no. security code, expiration date )is correct.
I asked my cc company, they said transaction might get rejected but in that case they will inform card holder and then rejected transaction can be approved if card holder wants. may be you should talk to customer support.
