Hi djdy, see my response in red.
djdy said:Pls as an expectant Ppr applicant, I want recently landed or experienced seniors to advise me on the safest way of carrying proof of funds at point of entry?
1. I heard that bank statements from Nigerian banks are not tenable as pof at point of entry. Is this true or not? At the moment my bank ( GTBank) does not issue travelers check. I don't think that's true, I landed with a bank statement, though I was not asked to show POF, but I think about a few days ago someone shared their landing experience and the bank statements was accepted.
2. Is it safe to carry cash especially dollars? It is ok as long as you declare it
3. Will there be serious challenges or roadblocks especially with our nosy customs officers and immigration officers? Once you declare the amount (if over 5k) and have solid proof of source of the funds you should be alright, I know someone who travelled with 20k USD and was not disturbed.
4. Do a couple need to declare (here or in canada)the amount that is being carried even if it's more than 10000usd but is being split between the couple. Once the amount is over 5k USDs you have to declare it both at the airport in 9ja and in Canada. Under 5k you don't have to.
I would be glad if anyone can dissect each of these questions as it's causing me a lot of headache of late
Thanks
