Pls we need further clarification here, is it because the family did not wait for response from their immigration visa office regarding US BORN baby before proceeding to land in Canada OR is it that children born in usa during processing times is a ' no-go' area for applicants?

Wow, so many threads posted since my last visit. Congratulations to everyone with updates and more patience to all of us still expectant. It will end in praise for all of us, IJN Amen.

To my knowledge the latest MR is October 31, be hopeful cos very soon November will begin their rain of MRs, November Applicants are we ready????

Hello House,

I got a mail from AVO today with some queries, though I was terrified but I have consoled myself. I noted on my application that i am in a common law relationship because my I am not married under the law (church or registry marriage) but only married under native law(engagement) and I have children with my husband and also use the family name.

AVO has written to me stating that since I am in a common law relationship, how come I am using my husband family name and that I should provide document which I used in getting a passport with the name. My passport was gotten with my husband family name hence I was not asked to submit any evidence of name at the passport office when I applied for passport.

Secondly, they noted that my husband status on social media indicates that he is married, ( I have married on my Facebook status too) and so they asked that since I am in a common law relationship with him, they assume he is married to another person.

They asked me to respond within 30days. I really need advise with regard to evidence of using my husband name to obtain passport.

Thank you.

Congrats Kayb!! we all will testify of His Goodness, amen!

This is a close one because everything about this immigration program or any immigration program requires documentation. May be the traditionalist of items, pictures from the occasion etc might be your explanations to them because they will really want to know the means/conviction that made the passport office allowed for the processing of your international passport.

I think there is a way u get customary certificate from d registry. The customary certificate is for traditional marriages. Just go to d registry and inquire if u can back date it.

if you really need help on this , kindly answer the following questions genuinely..
1.. did you attach your engagement photos when sending the application?
2..How did you get the passport? did you do a sworn affidavit to that effect?
3..after changing your name did you ensure to carry out any change of name publication on any newspaper?

I am asking all the question as i also applied as a common law partner and i attached our engagement picture and my faceBook and linked-in profile doesn't show am married but rather single..( its confirmed AVO always go there to check social media)

hence kindly answer the above genuinely

Hi Bonblu,

1. I didn't attach pictures but I can get and send pictures along when responding. I think the issue they have is the fact that my spouse has "married" on his Facebook status (maybe they expect him to have common law relationship).

2. The first passport I got was with my husband's name hence there was no requirement to submit evidence of new name.

3.Yes, I did a newspaper publication and included it in my application for the Canada immigration.

Thank you.
