Hi, POF is a major issue which is why everybody tries to ensure they meet or exceed it. CIO will accept the POF document at face value but your VO will drill down and verify if it is genuine and not encumbered as part of background checks.

hi pipi's hubby,

you mean AVO can call the banks? is that possible?

I have been a silent observer all the while, it's been enlightening. THANKS ALL. CIO just recieved my app on the 12th November.NOC 2281.
I just noticed an error now. I put Ghana as my Visa office instead of Accra. I hope this will not affect anything.

Don't worry...you will be cool since you put Ghana.
Congrats.
Cheers.

This is not a problem. There's only one Canadian High Commission or Visa Office in Ghana and that is Accra.

All the best.

Yes it's possible. Just like all other immigration applications; study visa, vacation, medical etc, embassies/consulates/visa offices routinely write to banks and other financial institutions to verify the authenticity of bank account statements which people use to support their visa applications, FSW inclusive.
Having worked with a major bank's Audit and Inspection Unit, I can confirm to you that banks respond to the embassies wether the statements are real or fake and in some cases, try to prosecute those who use the bank's name to perpetrate bank fraud. Banks don't find it funny when their letter heads and statement paper is used for fake POF.
Like I stated before however, this verification is random and based on if the VO has doubts on the financial capacity of any applicant. Some people will not be verified, some people can not escape bank document verification, cheers.
