hi there,
i had comtemplated applying for immigration in August 2009 but at that time decided against it.
i am now planning to apply so that i can move there (all my sisters are already canadian citizens).

need confirmation on the following items:

1. back in 2009, an initial application had to be send to Sydney and once they approve, we would have to send a complete application packet again. this is no longer the process right? we just send one big application packet with everything (except medical + police). right?

2. funds - i am applying with wife+kid so i need to show about 10lac fund in bank, correct? these 10lac will be accumulated only by April'13 so in May'13 I can take a letter from bank stating the balance. Will that be enough? Will it be a problem giving statement too where they see chunks of lacs coming in every month just for the purpose of building up that 10lac balance?

3. education assessment - i realise that they haven't announced a assessing company/institute yet but my situation is a bit tricky. i checked with ICAS about my Masters from US university and BE from Mumbai University. US university will easily send my transcript for MS directly to ICAS but I'm sure for B.E. Mumbai University won't do this in a 100 years. In fact, it might be painful to even get a transcript myself from them. here is communication between me and ICAS as of today:

ME: I've been through your website for requirements to get these assessed for immigration to Canada but I am not comfortable with sending my original documents across from India all the way to Canada.
Is there any other way this assessment can be done? Maybe notarized photo-copies? Or even scanned copies? USA University can send my transcripts directly to you guys, but the Indian University might not have this facility.

ICAS: Please review our documentation requirements by country ww.icascanada.ca/pdf/REQUIRED-DOCUMENTS.pdf. Please note that these documentation requirements will not apply to those requesting an assessment for immigration under the FSWC. FSWC applicants will be required to have official documents sent directly to our office by the institution(s). Original documents and certified copies of original documents will not be accepted.

ME: Regarding your statement: "...FSWC applicants will be required to have official documents sent directly to our office by the institution(s)....."
I have Master of Science from Univeristy in USA who can send transcripts directly to you guys. Will transcripts from last attended univeristy be enough? Or do you need the Bachelor of Engineering transcripts too? My Bachelor's is from University in India - and I don't think they have the facility to send you transcripts/certificates directly.

ICAS: Only the qualifications for which we receive official documents would appear on the report. Whether or not a report which includes only your master's degree is sufficient for the FSWC process would need to be clarified by CIC. We are unable to comment on their requirements.

so based on this, is it OK to show only M.S. from university in USA on assessment report? how will 18 years of education be established?

4. My wife is also Masters. She doesn't need to do this assessment right? she is applying as my dependant, although she does work right now. and plans to in Canada too.

5. With respect to filling out the forms:
a. We don't have a nation identification document do we? Or is this reference to PAN card?
b. Education of us in India is:
Primary - 4 years (1st to 4th)
Secondary - 6 years (5th to 10th)
University/College - 8 years (2 years of 11th &12th in junior college + 4 years Engg + 2 years Masters).

Correct?

Thanks a lot in advance!!!

1. f I am correct that my research is right, then to answer your first question I would say YES. You will send one big chunk of your entire application packet ensuring that you have all the documents asked under the checklist. CIC will then send it to the Immigration Visa office that you have selected in the Generic Application Form.

2. Please refer to this chart from CIC's website to determine how much do you require for the POF. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

In my opinion and from what I have read in CIC's website, depositing lumpsum of money into your bank is fine as long as you can show the proof of the resource of the fund. Otherwise I would suggest depositing just substantial amount in the bank consecutively

You can also check this site http://get2canada.wordpress.com/the-process/
where one of the regulars of this Forum has posted a lot of useful information about the process and the steps.

Hopefully, these will help you get going.

5 a) We have a Aadhaar card as Nationality Identitication doc.
b) correct as far mumbai university and maharashtra board goes ! :)
4) your wife though masters has can give a IELTS so you could score 5 points more for that.
2) Try to have the required amount onto one account asap. They may ask you again for the statements in the mean process.
1) You need to check http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp and go through the instruction guide carefully.

You can always come back here with questions if you need any help.
Enjoy!
