Thank you Brijpatel for bringing me to this forum.

To set the context right and to have few questions answered, I will put the quote from Steve81 here:

Hi Guys

I am a physiotherapist from India. I started my evaluation in March 2009, it finished in January 2011. Now they are telling to to take courses which can take two years. So I my almost four years will be screwed by Canadian alliance of Physiotherapy.

There are not any Physiotherapy assistant job for physiotherapists in Ontario. They need need PTA educated from Canada. They just pay $ 11 to the foreign educated PTA'S.

I dont want to discourage anybody, but this is the true picture in Ontario.

@ Aquib --> Well first of all you are sure you are not going to apply under the FSW scheme ? Because she can work for a year in India and then apply under the FSW (Fedral skilled worker) program.

I would say the route to take from here on is, that please ask her to apply for Credential evaluation to Alliance of Physiotherapy Canada. Now I have at least 4 friends + 1 ME (we all are Masters in Physiotherapy from India). We all applied for Credential Evaluation at different times, The ones who got their credentials evaluated had to do maximum of 2 months course in a Canadian institution. Wrote the license exam and all are practicing Physiotherapists in Canada, I am yet to land, I applied for Credential Evaluation last year so waiting for my turn.

But even for Bachelors candidates I have heard good stuff only, Bachelors from India who are awaiting their evaluation results are getting PT assistant jobs in Toronto (I agree less jobs in Toronto at the moment) but in GTA (Greater Toronto Area) like Brampton, Mississauga etc. PT A jobs are a plenty paying anything from $ 15 to $ 18 which is a v good survival package. After my friends got the license all are above $45/hour + benifits. One of my friend who is not taking any benefits from his employer his getting $ 85/hour.

@ Steve81 Buddy from which Univ and College you did your Bachelors degree, because I have a lot of my friends (including me) who have done are Bachelors and Masters from Rajiv Gandhi Medical sciences univ Bangalore and most of my friends just had to take the PLAR online course and then they were eligible to write the License exam and even before their results came out. All of them had PT Assistance jobs earning anywhere between $ 15 to $ 18 ..... Please let me know the Univ you did your degree from, maybe I know someone already in Canada from your Univ.

So the student route should be taken when other means have been exhausted and you have ample money. Even if after Credential evaluation the result is that she has to do some course or worst her masters in Canada, she would pay way less money if she is doing the masters as a PR, as compared to doing a Masters being a foreign student from India....... Let me know if I answered your queries or made you more confused :)
I was relieved to see this response

4can said:
It's PLAR. Don't worry about it. No more PLAR till rules change. So people with bachelors also are eligible for PCE after doing a 3 months online orientation course and credentials evaluated by Alliance. :)
And my question is
My wife is a physiotherapist with a Bachelors. Can you advise if anything can be done from India to get Credentialing from Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators or any other regulators like these?

In short what does she need to do as a first step to get herself employed as a Physiotherapist or if not that at least an assistant physiotherapist?

She has more than 6 years of experience in this field.

Any response will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It would be great if any one could list down things to do before landing and after landing to ensure readiness to practice the Physiotherapy Profession.
For Bachelor Degree holders and for Master degree holders.

One good place to start would be http://www.alliancept.org/ as this organisation accepts credential evaluations done by WES.
See this http://www.wes.org/ca/clients/profiles.asp

Hi everyone,
I realize the situation for internationally educated physiotherapists wasnt as rosy prior to 2012. It is tough and as sinestra rightly said the pay for PTA's is nothing to boast about. BTW i am a RGUHS graduate as well. I really cannot speak for the ones who have applied earlier because I dont know the rules that well, but from what I have heard from friends who went to canada at that time it was more difficult. Thankfully with Alliance PT changing the rules this year it is easier for internationally educated physios like ourselves to practice. A humble request to everyone start your Alliance Credentialing ASAP. this way you will have your credential evaluation by the time you get your visa. Do not be in a rush to enter the country the moment you get our visa. Please study for a while in India and make as much money as you can before you leave. you have approx 11 months to enter the country after you get your visa. get your written PCE exam date and apply for the written exam from India itself. Reach 3-4 months before your written exam. That gives you enough time to settle look for a job and study as well. take up PCE prepratory courses. The canadian exam system is very different from what we are used to. This way you are better prepared and your chances of passing are better. Apply to the ontario association of Physiotherapist for a resident pt license after clearing you written PCE. The pay is around 20$-25$ for a resident.
then prepare for the clinical part.
All said and done all of us need to reach there and see the situation. This is just my Plan which made after listening to friends who've reached thr already . thought i'd share it with everyone

I sum up the following from what you stated:
1) Prior to 2012, things were not so good, now rules have changed/changing in our favor.
2) One can start Alliance Credentialing from home country.
3) Get PCE Exam Date and apply for written exam from home country.
4) Apply for Ontario Association of Physiotherapist for a resident Physiotherapist license after clearing PCE.

My question to you would be:
1) What are the pre-requisites? Academic level of IELTS?
2) Bare minimum pass percentage score?
3) Experience required?
4) Where did you get this info from? http://www.alliancept.org ?
5) How do you enroll from India/where ever you are from?
6) Do you have to write different exams if you have done Bachelors and different for Masters?

I know you may not have answers to all these questions, but it is good to have answers from the ones who know this.

For Credentialing as of 2013 you need just your entry level Physiotherapy degree i.e Bachelors Documents required are:
TO BE SENT BY CANDIDATE : 1)Attested copies of Degree certificate,
2)Clinical Internship Completion Certificate,
3)Passport 1st and last page,
4)FORMS A B C
5)DD or CC details for approx 985$. [check form A, for a duplicate copy of the result and International Courier you need to pay 25$ and 100$ resp along with 860$ for the credentialing process]
6)Proof of name change if applicable

TO BE SENT BY UNIVERSITY: 4 years marksheets-attested and sent by Registrar from the vicinity of the university itself. We can not send it from our home address. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS

TO BE SENT BY COLLEGE: FORM D and Official transcript (enquire with your college what documents they require from you and ow much they will charge you to courier it to ALLIANCE in a sealed envelope of the college.

ACADEMIC IELTS is required only for completion of the credential process. You can send your documents to Alliance first and give your IELTS later. I did the same and I got a confirmation from alliance for the same.
NOTE: within 6 months of applying for Credentialing we are expected to submit all our documents or else ALLIANCE will close our file and we will have to resubmit our application.

Work experience does not matter.

came to this conclusion after speaking to friends of mine who moved to canada in the last 2 years. in short learnt from their mistakes:)

once you get your credential evaluation report you can apply for the written exam. Check http://www.alliancept.org/exams_candidates_registering.php

there is just one written and clinical exam for all internationally educated physiotherapists.

The above mentioned Information is for Indian students. this is the procedure i followed.
