Hi All,
I have not yet received my PR card as I was required to retake my pictures and send to CIC again. I landed in Vancouver Aug 31st and I'm currently in USA. I need to travel to Toronto by this month end by when I don't think I will be able to receive PR card.
I know I need to apply for Travel document to be able to travel to Canada, which also is going to take long time (30 days) or travel by road (flying to Newyork and cross border by road). I do have valid Canada tourists visa (applied previously) also on my passport. If I travel by air to Canada using this tourists visa, do you know if there can be any issues at the port of entry in Toronto or will it be just fine. Thanks.

Hi, If you dont have PR card then you have to cross border by your own vehicle or by walking with your passport and COPR then only you can be entered and if you are in commercial vehicle, i.e., bus, airplane, boat then you either need PR card or Travel document ( it is a kind of visa which has Permanent resident written on it). Relax, i also got travel doc but from Delhi, India as i mentioned my date travel late in the form so they send me passport according to that travel date but they usually take minimum 10 working days to process in delhi and sort this photo thing in your pr card and just straight face, no smile, no special hair style and and size should be that is written on paper which CIC sent you, and date of pic on the back of picture, that you can get in usa or Canada only. Dont scare, everything will be fine buddy...

Dear members please share your views on this

If I plan to do a short landing to get PR card and plan to move permanently in a year's time after that. Will I have to pay taxes to Canadian government for the earning made from short landing till I move permanently?

If you stay less then 183 days in canada in a tax year, you will be considered as Non-residents (for tax purpose). In that case, you don't have to pay tax on the income you receive outside canada.

So, the answer is NO.

Dear all,

Fortunately, I got this email today from LVO. Does anybody knows how long it takes for them to issue visa after submitting these documents to LVO?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your application has reached the final stage of processing. So that your permanent resident
visa(s) can be issued, you must now submit the documents listed below. (Note that family
members who are entitled to Canadian citizenship must travel on their Canadian passports.)
1. Two recent photographs of yourself and two recent photographs of each of your
accompanying family members. The photos must meet the Photo Specifications as detailed
in Appendix A.
2. The “Updated Information Chart” in Appendix B, fully completed for you and each
accompanying family member.
3. Your original passport and the original passport(s) of your accompanying spouse and
dependent children. The passports must meet the Passport Specifications as detailed
below.
Submit the documents within 30 days of the date of this correspondence according to the
instructions in Appendix C. Please also include a copy of this correspondence with your
submission. All documents for you and your accompanying family members must be submitted
together in one package.

Kind regards,
Farhad
