LANDING EXPERIENCE

Hello Folks!

I am back from Canada. It has been quite a while since my last post. I was busy with some travel and the Canada landing. Here is my landing experience.

I landed in Canada on 26 August 2014. I was already in UK for a trip, so I took a flight from London to Toronto. The flight was via Montreal. My destination in Canada as per my application was Calgary.

I landed in Montreal and was done with my immigration /landing formalities in a short while. The wait in the queue took an hour ..the immigration formalities itself took 15 minutes. I had nothing with me, just a small bag and no funds , no list of items to follow.

Immi Officer: How much funds are you carrying funds with you?
Me: Zero. Only cards.

Immi Officer: Okay. So how much money do you have at your disposal to be transferred to canada for your settlement?
Me: 30,000 CAD

Immi: Any goods to declare?
Me: Nothing.

Immi: ( Looking at my bag) Is that all you luggage ?
Me : Yes.

Immi: Any goods to follow?
Me: May be some items. My wife will landed later so she will get them

Immi: Address in Canada?
Me: ( my sisters address)

And that was it. He gave me the welcome to canada look and the book :)
Next day I rented a car and went to Service Ontario office. Got my SIN in 5 minutes. Checked a few banks for accounts,CC, etc.
Stayed in Canada for 7 days as a tourist. And returned. My sister will send me the PR card by post later.

If anybody has any queries regarding landing, feel free to drop me a line.

Good luck to all.

Regards

Welcome back! thanks for sharing :D

I can't insert all the job responsibilities in "main duties" box of work experience section in Schedule 3.
- Is that ok if I write "See the next page" and attach a page with detailed job description?
- Can my job responsibilities be exactly the same as in my reference letters?

Please let me know. Thanks!
yes they have to be same as your reference letters. reference letters are meant to backup all your work experience claims

Hello guys

We are planning to land in canada in january.I hope that is peak winters and most of our friends are saying that JOB MARKETS are closed in winters.

is that So.can anyone of you please guide

Thanks
I wouldnt say Job markets are closed but yeah they are cold compared to september when the hiring market is hot. again it also depends on which province you are planning to move to and in what field you are looking for job. retail sector is hiring all 365 days regardless of the province and season.
cheers

Congrats Mahyn :D,

JUst to be cleared you are an applicant for Federal skilled worker program? I noticed you stated that you landed in Montreal as be your application, or are you a Quebec applicant?

Its not really "closed" but just less jobs posted. And as you can imagine is way harder getting to interviews in the winter, especially with snow, and as an immigrant you may not yet have a car or know the train system as well.

Hi islandbabe,

My destination as per my application is CALGARY. I am a FSWP immigrant. My flight happened to go via Montreal, so I had to complete my landing in Montreal. Otherwise I had no business in Quebec.

Yes RPRF fee is always payable in Local currency of your origin country.

Hi all,

I got FSW visa in June 2014 but as we were blessed with a baby on 29th may, we informed this to NDVO...So on 19th June NDVO mailed me to submit new born bay docs,DD for reissue of visa, visa and COPR....I submitted them on 29th June...and DD was encashed on 9th July...

After that a strange thing happened...I got mail from NDVO on 11th July for submission of new born bay docs,DD for reissue of visa, visa and COPR(similar to earlier mail of 19 June)....I raised a CSE on 14 July informing this...but I did not got an auto generated mail for confirmation of my CSE, which i usually get after a raising CSE...Still i waited for their reply but did not get any...so again i mailed NDVO on 4th Sep(as NDVO CSE link was down that time and this time I got auto generated mail)...but no rely yet...

As my DD for reissue of visa was en-cashed on 9 july, I hope my docs have reached NDVO safely and they have mailed me again for Doc submission by mistake....what is your say in this...
My application status is still showing decision made which i guess should have again changed to In process after submission of visa and COPR.

Also Its been 2.5 months since I submitted all docs but still I have not received medical request for my new born...my visa expiry date is in 29th Jan 2015...what should I do now..raise a CSE and request them to send medical for my baby at the earliest...

Very good info. Thanks for the same.

I have the same question as most of you have in mind regarding funds.....

I guess that also depends on the immigration officer you are dealing with. If you are lucky you can get in even without money as said by Mahyn. Secondly, the address you have given is of your sister's, which makes sure that you have a place to stay and live in Canada. So that ruled out the question "what will you do in Canada without money"

I don't remember the page number now but there were cases I have read in the forum that the officer actually ask for evidence of funds.

In my view, so that would be on discretion of immigration officer.
