Hi guys

Congratulation for all who got their visas and Wish you good luck and speedy process who are waiting for their maple leaf.

Recently I have got my Visa and CoPR from Canadian Embassy, Manila.

I have following quires.

1.In my wife COPR, in birth place column they wrote Ongole, Andhra P instead of Ongole,Andhra Pradesh.
I understood that because of space constraints they limited the wording.
Is my understanding is correct?

2.During my passport request , generally we will get Appendix-A form in which we need to write all the info including height.
It obvious that children height will increase in considerable range along with time. Therefore, in attachment form A I wrote my children height as 99 cm and 84 cm (where as in generic application form it was written as 92 cm and 76 cm). However, visa office wrote the height based on Generic application form in COPR of my children. I need to report to embassy or I can change it at port of Entry?

3.I booked my tickets via Vancouver, B.c to Calgary. I will land first in Vancouver, B.C and from there connecting flight to Calgary.
(As my destination is Calgary as Generic application form). I think this is acceptable.

Anyone please second my ideas????
thanks and wish you good luck in your endeavors.
gangster9rls, I think it's OK for Andhra P and children Height. Further you can land anywhere in Canada irrespective of what you put as destination in generic application form. Your landing procedure will be done in first port of entry. I am also with NOC 2134. PM me your landing plan.

Seniors,,, I'am a 2014 FSWP applicant.

Can you pl tell, about the different status in ECAS.

My CC was charged on 12th June, I checked ECAS after that and my status was " We received your application for permanent residence on xxx".
I did not receive my PER till now... Will ECAS change after PER?

It will change when you are about to receive your Medical Request which is after PER.

Friends, After a long wait and lots of obstacles, I finally received my visa. I am thankful to all of you for your support and guidance all along and best wishes to everyone for their visa.

I am thinking to land in Canada in 2 months. I have few queries and needed your suggestions:

1. Is it worth to attend some kind of seminar/conference on basic things to know before landing in Canada? If so, is there any such program conducted by CIC(or similar) for free? If not, Is there any such paid program?

2. Is it possible to open a Canadian bank account from India? Also, which is a good Canadian bank to open account in?

3. What is the upper limit for the money(in cash) that we can carry with us to Canada? Is there any limitation on the Indian or Canadian custom's side? Also any limitation on carrying Traveller's cheque?

4. What is the best way to transfer money to the Canadian bank in least transfer fee? Any upper limit on that?

Thanks so much!!!

Hi Pal, Congratulations... Replies to your queries are as below...

1. Is it worth to attend some kind of seminar/conference on basic things to know before landing in Canada? If so, is there any such program conducted by CIC(or similar) for free? If not, Is there any such paid program?
CIIP, funded by CIC, is a very good program to attend before going to Canada. Its free of cost. you can register yourself at https://register.newcomersuccess.ca/

2. Is it possible to open a Canadian bank account from India? Also, which is a good Canadian bank to open account in?

Check out ICICI bank's New Canadian NRI account information at http://www.icicibank.com/nri-banking/money_transfer/canada/overview_money_transfer_Can.page

3. What is the upper limit for the money(in cash) that we can carry with us to Canada? Is there any limitation on the Indian or Canadian custom's side? Also any limitation on carrying Traveller's cheque?

You can carry a total amount of 10000 CAD with you. Above that you will have to declare it to customs. Apart from that, you can have as much money as you want in your bank account. There is no limit to that. If you have spare money you would like to take to canada, open an account in ICICI and deposit the money in that account and show it as POF upon landing...
Quoting CIC's website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp
"Bring as much money as you can to make moving and finding a home in Canada easier. Note, however, that Canadian customs regulations require you to declare if you are bringing more than C$10,000 into Canada. If you do not tell them, you may be fined or put in prison. These funds could be in the form of:

•cash
•documents that show property or capital payable to you (such as stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.) or
•documents that guarantee payment of a set amount of money, which are payable to you (such as bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders)."

thanks for the reply, DD in INR for Rs 8200 /- in favour of receiver general of canada? Am i right?

Also, any specific reason for making in INR?

Because DD is payable at New Delhi so bank cant give you DD in CAD. you can make dd in favour of either receiver general of canada or canadian high commission.

best of luck.
