Hi Guys,

I am applying for FSW 2014 program starting for May 1st. I applied last year also but couldn't make into the cap. I see that on the CIC website the forms are from last year but the page shows updated on 23 April 2014. So this means same forms will be used or there will be new ones?

One more thing my IELTS is valid till 26 May 2014. So is it safe to apply with this or I should go for new one?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, my application reached Nova Scotia on April 11, 2014. I want to know how much time is it taking to get a PER nowadays? I read some where in this forum, it's 21 days now.. Is that so, if so how come so quick? Because I have always heard it's around a minimum of 60 days to even 4 months. Seniors, feedback please. Thank you.

My friend, you are wrong here. Primary NOC [for which you have applied for] should have minimum of 1 year of experience in past 10 years, if you have that, you are good to apply.

You can claim rest of the points by showing other jobs that you have done, and that should be listed in Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B. So if you have applied for 2174 and have an experience of 1 year and worked 5 years in 2173, you'll be awarded 6 years points instead of 1.

2174 [or any other primary NOC] is the basic criteria to qualify, but CIC is not that harsh and will not ruthlessly reject the rest of the experience you had.

Proof?
I have almost 2.5 years of experience in 2174, and almost same in 2175 cum 2174 [web development], in my GCMS, I have been awarded for all the experience I have. Even Visa Officer had no issue that I have been working as web programmer for past 2 years.

@jigzzy,

For your previous work ex (other than eligible / primary NOC) what kinda of supporting document you have provided ? Do you have the same detailed reference letter include main job duties of 2175.
Pls let me know ASAP

QUESTION TO 2013 APPLICANTS

Do any of you guys here had the same scenario like the one below where your education is not equivalent to canada but was still processed.?

The following fictional examples will help you determine what you must submit with your application to the CIO in order to receive maximum points for your education:
If Fatima studied outside of Canada and obtained a foreign educational credential at the Bachelor's level, but her ECA report indicates that the foreign credential is only equivalent to two years of post-secondary study in Canada...
Then she would not meet the minimum education requirement and her application would be refused because her foreign educational credential was found not to be equivalent to a completed Canadian educational credential.

Dear friend,

Your inbox is full. I could not PM you.

I understand your dilemma.

Please refer to the following link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/factor-education.asp

According to what is stated on the page you should receive 19 points for your education (based on the information you provided in your PM). If your total points sum up to 67 or more then I believe you are good to go.

Additionally I could PM you some more details if you clear up your inbox.

Good Luck

Hi seniors

I'm posting my query in this thread as guys have gone thru the initial stages and have better perspective... would appreciate as many views.

Since I'm running short of pass points, I need to fetch more from Work exp... besides, the eligible/ main NOC.

-- For last 2-3 yrs I'm working independently as trader/ investor, can I show this as a full time paid work exp, say 1113 or self employed ?
-- will it be considered as skill type 0, 1 or 2 etc for claiming work exp points.. (this is apart from main NOC for which I have full time paid exp & detailed reference letter) ?

-- What all documents would I need to provide ? I can provide the ledger from my trading a/c with the brokerage firm.

Also, what should I mention for this in the Current Occupation (Generic App Form) & Personal History section in the Application Forms ?

Let me know your views asap

Many thanks
