CIC awarded 67 points, Local Visa Officer awarded 72 points so HE did override CIO. Even if you re-read your PER email, they have mentioned that any final decision lies with the local visa officer.

CIC Nova Scotia will always award 67 points...they just check that one is eligible...that one has the minimum required points (67) to qualify...

The final decision does lie with the local visa office and all local visa offices perform under CIC mandates...

and with all due respect, there is absolutely no reason why slowokan's and mdfarh's and other's experiences be undermined.....

Here is the screenshot from my GCMS notes, showing my work experience points;

Guys...

Do you know how many days do they allow us to send our passport, after they ask for it? Is it same like MR, 60 days?

I might be on a ship on a contract and it might take time to sign off the vessel when they ask for my passport to stamp the visa. 60 days is a reasonable time. But if it is less than that, that could be tricky for me... ???

they will give you a deadline for your passport to reach the local visa office.

So, is there not a fixed amount of time for everybody?

mish and slowokan,

jigzyy clearly mentioned in the last post... the "local visa officer" only revise the points..... None of us know when the local visa officer take our file for final point calculation after AOR... If you might have ordered for GCMS note before the local visa officer make final review of your points you will be able to see only the points awarded from CIC in the GCMS note...

I can give you even the details of the applicants last year who got point fluctuations at the time when the local visa officer taken the file for point calculation...

it is 45 days in general.... for me it was 45 days....but the VO sometimes gives an additional extension of 15 days....

whatever it is....it will be mentioned in the request from the VO...

My friend, you are wrong here. Primary NOC [for which you have applied for] should have minimum of 1 year of experience in past 10 years, if you have that, you are good to apply.

You can claim rest of the points by showing other jobs that you have done, and that should be listed in Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B. So if you have applied for 2174 and have an experience of 1 year and worked 5 years in 2173, you'll be awarded 6 years points instead of 1.

2174 [or any other primary NOC] is the basic criteria to qualify, but CIC is not that harsh and will not ruthlessly reject the rest of the experience you had.

Proof?
I have almost 2.5 years of experience in 2174, and almost same in 2175 cum 2174 [web development], in my GCMS, I have been awarded for all the experience I have. Even Visa Officer had no issue that I have been working as web programmer for past 2 years.

I think both Jigzzy and digitalsphere are both making valid points.

Having looked at all the arguments my humble opinion is that first of all applicants have to submit their files to CIO in Sydney and at this stage the VOs at the local visa offices do not get involved. So the most important thing is how are applicants going to scale the initial hurdle and if after that the VOs at the local offices awards further points nothing affects the eligibility score.

Therefore to be safe I will agree with digitalsphere that in the self calculation of points applicant are not over zealous and award themselves points outside of their PRIMARY NOC if the other experiences are not included in the 50 occupations listed.

Guys is it necessary for education and work experience to be in the same field. I am talking of someone with a bachelors in electronics and communication and work experience in NOC 2174. Any problems which you can think of in this combination of exp and education. Need inputs on priority. Thanks in advance Guys.

No..it is not necessary for education and work experience to be in the same field.

One gets points for the level of education only.
