Dear Kingfisher strong,
I attended the CIIP sessions and here is the info from the experts.

Best way is to open an account with Scotia or any other Canadian bank who have their presence in India. ( At first be clear as to the branch at which you are going to do the activation in CANADA)
Transfer your funds by RTGS / NEFT to your account in India.
Keep aside about 2 ~ 3K CAD for your incidental expenses and for the phone calls & Taxi & Hotel room advance Etc..
Have your bank statement from the Canadaian bank with whom you opened the account & show that to the Immigration officers when you land.
Activate your account at the predesignated brach after you land.

Else you can always purchase TC's & keep 2~3K with you for reasons stated above.
Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Hi Guys,

Please clarify that what is the best mode of Proof of Landing Funds ???

DD or
TC or
Cash

Those who have landed or planning to land, please answer.

From which bank (in India ) should DD be made and is it confirmed that we can use DD for POF ??

Dear Mohit,
I enquired that option as well, but found that it is quite expensive and each time you swipe certain fixed % of the total money deposited will be taken away by the issuing agency as charges. So need to be careful about that.

Hello friends,

I am new to this forum.
Could you please help me out?

I had applied last years in NOV and got PER on 21st of jan 2014.
Now I am curious why my status is not updated on ECAS?

Secondly how much time it will take to get medical request?

I will appreciate your replies.

Thanks in advance.

I agree with SNRAO. I think to transfer settlement funds from india to Scotia Bank or to take a demand draft seems to be the best option.

Hai guys
I did my medicals on March 14 but the status is not yet updated, whats happening? Any idea how they process things?

You have to first of all confirm that your panel physician has actually sent out your medical exam results; This could be done either through uploading if you had attended an eMedicals-based panel clinic or through posting by mail if you were in a Paper-based panel clinic to the responsible RMO.

It could also be that the RMO is still evaluating your medicals. So my advise is that you visit your panel doctor first to ascertain if he has actually sent the medicals out. For RMO, I am sorry you do not have any way of knowing except if they come back to you for additional medical checkup through your panel doctor or if everything is ok, your ECAS gets updated.

Dear Vancouver14,
Demand draft is NOT an option im my understanding. (Takes ages for it to get encashed Etc.. Heard that some people have sent back for having nothing else other than Demand Draft. So advisable to tread carefully & do the right thing rather than falling flat at the very last step)

Ask a travel agent.

Sure Ahab, will do that :). Just asking on the forum as mates here are pretty helpful in providing related information. That way, you need not be on the forum for any information as most info is available on CIC website as well. It is just that we are part of community here, helping each other sharing information. No offense please.

As per the CIC website, Proof of funds could be in the form of:

cash

documents that show property or capital payable to you (such as stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.) or

documents that guarantee payment of a set amount of money, which are payable to you (such as bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders).

Dear guramar, in this case you should pay a visit to the embassy and interact personally. They are pretty open to people with such cases as has happened with husman, rvpr and few. All the best.
