Hi Folks,

After the medical tests, my wife has been found to have active or latent Tuberculosis(TB). To confirm whether it is Active or latent TB, CIC has asked to undergo Sputum (AFB) tests which takes 8 weeks. Our pulmonologist(Lung specialist) however is insisting that it is inactive TB(not contagious) by seeing the physical conditions. In any case, it will take 9 - 12 months for complete treatment for active or latent TB.

Has anyone faced similar situation before? I would appreciate if you can share your experience.

1. Is there any risk of the application being denied on such ground even if the disease is curable?
2. If no, how much delay it might add up to the processing time?
3. If it comes out to be latent(Inactive) TB in our case, will CIC go ahead with the processing even before the treatment is complete considering that it is not contagious?

Thank you for your support. I pray that all get their PR as soon as possible.

Hi,
Not an expert in this matter, but if it's an active TB (I pray that it is not), than they may decline on the basis of the medical condition, because treatment, cure & final results may take approx 2 years. If it's inactive, than results will confirm it. Usually I have read they consider 2 years to be the minimum safe time to be sure that it's finished (since final treatment).

I hope you get positive news on this.

Hello all,

I need help on the status of my application. I just checked the status of my application on cic.gc.ca and they have updated the status as:

1.We received your application for permanent residence on October 15, 2013.

2.We started processing your application on March 5, 2014.

3.A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision

The main concern is I have not got any notice to submit my medical request or passport request. So do I assume that for some reason my application has denied? Please let me know asap

It seems you didn't get PER from CIC after your CC charge.

There were similar cases like you who got the same Ecas lines after refusal from CIC.

I would suggest you to explore other options for Canada.

Good luck

Dear gb2901
first of all do not panic
1. application would not denied on such ground.
2. keep atleast a year in mind as the treatment takes 6-9 months after that yr wife have to go for sputum test again which i am sure will be negative as the TB treatment is so effective if one follow the dosage regimen.
3. cic will not process unless yr wife is free from germs. and this is for your own good coz in future if your wife have some medical condition during which she need to take immuno-suppressants ( kind of medicine ) or her immunity lowered then there are more chances that tb germs will get activated. so cic will not take chance.

do not worry it is common in developing and under developed country.

you visa will not denied on such grounds but you might have to wait for a year.

if you have any concern regarding this send me a PM.
