Forum members,

Everyone who has received MR or is nearing the process of MR, I believe each such individual shall have his/her plans to land this year itself, now that the weather shall start improving after April.

All of us are already employed in relevant professions. What do you feel we should do.......quit our jobs and fight it out in Canada. Or take leave from our jobs for 20-25 days and try and hunt for a job. Even if we have to return empty handed in that case, we shall bring back our PR status with us. Opinions shall vary and both options have their pros and cons. Some may already have an understanding with their employers for a transfer / some may have friends and family who shall help them settle and find a job etc etc.

Please briefly share your thoughts/opinions on this aspect.......fresh ideas shall definitely help all of us navigate the uncertain future.

Regards,
Mav.

Maverickneo,

You are thinking on the same lines as I am thinking these days.

Well, I would say it depends heavily on the two things; first one if applicant is doing very good job in his/her home country and second one if he/she can get job offer from Canada with his/her PR status in hand while he/she is staying back in his/her home country.

I wouldn't mind to just go for landing purpose for 1 week or so and come back to continue my job. Then I will have maximum 3 years to stay out of Canada and I think, this is really much more than enough period to hunt a job while staying out of Canada but offcourse, it really depends on which field applicant is working and whether employer would like to meet you personally before offering a job. It also depends if employer is looking for Canadian experience only. If this is possible for someone, then it will be an ideal case that when you are really moving to Canada, you are moving with job in hand which is in your field.

pepto,

First of all congratulations for passing your exam. As per my knowledge, I try to give you answers:

1. You really don't need to worry. Either your file is not taken up for review or there might some kind of background check going on. If there is anything lacking in your application, VO will contact you for sure to submit the required documents. I would suggest you to wait for your turn. You can always send CSE to NDVO to enquire the status of your application. As far as cases of other applicants concerned who applied couple of months after you, don't take it negative; there should be some kind of priority exists in CIC under which few applicants are processed first regardless of application receipt date.

2. It is not possible to change visa office specifically you are living on visit visa in Canada.

3. You can take your medical examination in Canada with e-enabled panel physician. You or your consultant, if any, will recieve MR and medical form(s) via email, therefore you don't need to update your address to recieve your medical forms in Canada.

I hope this is helpful.
Hi Pepto,
Firstly Congratulations.
Agree with Abu
Just one doubt how will you send ur passports to NDVO for stamping if you are on a visit visa in canada.

Mr. Abu Hassan,

Hi friends,
I am in a fix and need advice.
2nd line has been added to my ecas and hoping to get the MR anytime now. But the problem is my husband works in Saudi Arabia and his passport is with his employer. If he asks for the passport he needs to hand over his iqama (residence permit card) without which it is not possible to live there. So is it possible to ask for an extension to submit the passport?
Any suggestions please.

Disclaimer : The content i wrote below is my personal opinion and is heavy on philosophy. Read with an open mind, or simply ignore...

If you are asking this question at this juncture..maybe you need to rethink why you decided to go to Canada in the first place ? There are tons of examples of people who leave their well established jobs in India to go to Canada just because someone told them that "kisey de chache de munde ne uthey jaa ke vaado paise kamaye ( someone's uncle's son made a lot of money in Canada) ".

You might regret your decision that you decided to go to Canada because of listening to someone about how somebody else was doing extremely well there. Everyone may have different motivation to immigrate. If you are in a senior position here in a Govt. dept and are used to a way of life where you don't have to do each and everything yourself, and get a lot of respect here. I would personally suggest you to stay in India. But if you are ready to take a risk and are ready to start work at may be at a front line position, with a hope of better standard of living, more peaceful but individualistic society, and efficient public institutions, better health and educational facilities for your children then Canada can be very rewarding, we have to slog for it though, its not easy.

For anyone moving to Canada, we might have to leave behind certain beliefs related to work culture, societal norms of our native countries with an open mind. If we don't do that, we will all be nostalgic and will always be thinking 'How we used to do stuff this way back in India' and ' How I never had to even pick up a glass of water for myself'. Bodies and mind in different places can cause havoc.

Dont listen to what I say or others say. Be clear on what was the starting point of all this, what was the core reason behind all this quest to go to another country in the first place.

I apologise If i have sounded rude, but I could not help but reply to your question.

Very Well explained Stoic. +100 for you

Dear Rach saheb,
Waheguru ki kripa, happy for you and ofcourse for NOC 2174 as now they atleast started making final decision for 2174 candidates.

I agree :D Ameen...

but ofcourse moving out of comfort zones n leaving jobs behind is a big question....me n my husband r working here in uae at reasonable packages if not grand...
and to move out and quits jobs would be our biggest decision....apart from our marriage decision :D but the sooner we move, the sooner we may adjust...and get a canadian passport one day ;D

anyhow we plan to land together permanently with our toddler this year inshaAllah....but then managing expenses even for 2-3 months without a job gives the greatest fear...
a reasonable 2-bedroom is ranging from cad$1000/- to cad$1500/- per month...then food/other expenses maybe cad$1000/- per month..
rent a car or used car expenses...other mandatory expenses on landing....

anybody else with a better calculation??? :-X
