I am not sure ..nothing is mention with regards to passport validity, mine is although valid till 2020...

In another instance , whether it is relevant here or not I am not sure but I have US B1/b2 visa which expires after my passport expires ..
more over now you can get passport within 7 days in India i mean atleast in Hyderabad.

If for any reason, passport is renewed while the passport contains valid visa, you can travel with the new passport presenting the visa in the old passport. The new passport will have the observation stating that the passport holder has traveled with his old passport which contains valid visa.

Medical: Complete or provide proof of completion of the Immigration medical
examination for all This must be received at this office by: 01/17/2014

Police Certificate: From each country/state where the residence period has been six
months or longer since the age of 18, provide an original police clearance certificate for
yourself and spouse This must be received at this office by: 01/17/2014

RPRF: Pay the Right of Permanent Residence fee for yourself and spouse This must be
received at this office by: 01/17/2014

Passport/Travel Document: Valid passport or travel document for all(both new and
old/cancelled if any) to be submitted after all other requirements are met.
(Date format is MM/DD/YYYY)

Seven days is through tatkal. It's still 45 - 60 days through normal process.

there is no much price difference, 1500 is for normal and 3500 is for Tatkal ..

@Allspark - Just need your thoughts on this. What is the basis behind last date as 17-January? Which previous date has it been linked to?

From what I can make out, 18-Oct is your AOR date. So 3 months from there??? But that doesn't makes sense.
