Hello friends, I have a question. How to notify CIC of legal name change? I saw there is an application for Change of address but not for other changes. I sent them an email with new name, new birth certificates showing the name etc., last week but they have not got back on that yet. They sent the medical requests with old names. Is there a way to contact them? Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi SaravK,

Maybe you could post your question here:
https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=new%20delhi

I assumed that your VO is the hyperactive NDVO. ;D

CIC, NDVO,LVO all r off duty? .... wat kind of strike is called off? ::)
That is called an italian strike, when worker bureaucrat appears at work, does nothing while collecting its salary and benefits. I think they have always been on permanent strike like this.
The only difference with recent PAFSO actions was, this time they decided to take long summer vacation.

It seems like the bureaucrats all around the world irrespective of developed or developing nations are all same. Its been almost two weeks the strike ended, but no good news from any of the VOs( barring CPPO).

No one knows what are they thinking, forget about working ! :'( :'( :'(

It may not work as you planned 'cos on your first trip on your PR visa, you will have to complete the Landing process. You will have to either wait to collect your PR card (formerly takes 1month, but according to a source from another forum, it now takes 70days) or leave while you use address of a family/friend, who can forward the card to you. You need the card to make any future entry into Canada.

Ok. Thank you. I was hoping I could request a Travel Document to return.

You are right, the wait is causing lot of agony to most of us. The issue is that it is not like any other wait. Migration is like uprooting yourself, your family, your house, your job, your friends, relatives, place, ..and replanting self n family again to a completely new environment. In the process, we have, in anticipation of the big move, put most of the ongoing happenings in life on hold. This "pause" button is causing major anxiety as everything seems to be halted and awaiting signals from CIC/VO to give us indicator on how we should plan out our activities from now on - and they are not helping in anyway at the moment.

However, there are few ways to reduce the agony caused by this wait. Keep hopes high, keep your dream alive and know the price to be paid. It is going to be a long drawn battle as it does not end with PR. Most of us are not dreaming just about "landing" on Canada soil. Most are striving for a dream job, a dream house with all other basic stuff like car n all to get to a normal life in Canada. That will be another struggle in its own ways. So, hang on and go through the ride. And know that it'll be all WORTH it ..else all past immigrants would have left Canada by now :)

Enjoy
You said so right about putting your life on hold for psychological reasons.

I read once about some religious sect living in remote village in old decaying houses, some even with leaking roofs and broken windows.
You would never say that they were ill, lazy or stupid.

The only reason for that was they were awaiting for doomsday to come very soon. That is what they have been told by their religious leader, with exact day and hour when it is gonna happen.
When this day had come, he offered praise to god for his mercy and adjusted his prediction for the next available date.
They lived like this for years, from one date to another, waiting for their doomsday to happen. And when you are sure that this day will come soon, why would you bother with your chores or fix your house?

I see slight resemblance of our forumites 8) with this sect. We also eagerly awaiting for our big day to happen, also putting our lives on hold, listening for some stupid priests or in our case politicians, making unrealistic promises, analyzing timelines of other applicants, trying to figure out our timeline, became addicted to this forum.
I fall for this trap myself, see many others too. Guys, we must help to keep each other sane here. ;D
