I decided to email the PAFSO team for an update on the strike and if it will affect us or not. Here is the transcript:

Dear PAFSO,
I completely understand your cause for striking.
I was wondering if you could let me know if this strike affect applicants under Federal Skilled Worker Program?
Regards,
Sinestra77

Mr. XXXXX,

Foreign Service Officers working in the immigration stream have been withdrawing services in Delhi and other Canadian missions in India. While this action does not mean that the entire office is closed, it does mean a significant increase in processing times for all types of visa applications.

We are unable to answer case specific inquiries. You can however learn how to lodge an inquiry at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp
Or if you have an immigration application in progress in Canada you may contact the CIC Call centre at 1-888-242-2100 or by e-mail at: question @ cic.gc.ca

We regret any inconvenience this may cause and wish you luck with your visa application.

Regards,

Chrystiane Roy

Basically, you got nothing from them, wrapped in many nice meaningless words.

I also checked their web-site where they stated their reasons for strike.
The main reason is because people on different positions and doing different work, like lawyers, industry commissioners and etc., receive bigger salary.
They say it is not fair, as we sit in the same offices. We want to receive same salaries. :'(

Who's gonna strike next? Cleaning ladies, technicians? Their salaries even less than theirs. It is not fair too.

Also many other complaints that they living in dangerous countries and risking their lives every day, missing birthdays of their relatives back home. And it is not fair. They had no idea about that, when signed their contracts and took their jobs abroad. :'(

But my favorite is that they care so much about Canadian taxpayers, so they have no other option but to strike, they want more taxpayers money to be spend on them "more effectively". 8)

I wonder what kind of education and qualification needed to take this job...to check application completeness, compare it according instructions and move papers around, do they need to study law or economy for many years in university to get their qualification like lawyers or economists did?

Hey Idima, No matter how low I may feel due to the delays as ( like many others ) I also have very strong reasons for wanting to migrate, you appear like a ray of sunshine and with your excellent humour make me smile... always...

As I said before, personally I am glad to see when somebody doing great job receives great compensation for that.

But when people doing their work poorly demand same compensation, as those who doing their work great and reasoning it by some abstract "fairness", it sounds very stupid and childish to me.

To the administrators,

Can you please change the name of the forum to something more popular like "Federal Skilled Worker 2013" or use similar wordings as public notices or whatsoever that you as computer engineers and developers know so that it can easily be found by searching in google. That way we can attract more applicants. The current name does not help to easily locate it by searching unless you already know the name.

My application reached on 1oth of May but CC has not been charged. I have received reply of my email within 20 business days from CIC, asking some details i.e. name as on passsport and DOB which I have provided. I am awaiting the response.

I am 27 May applicant. No news whatsoever yet Emailed CIC on 27 July, no response yet

Same with me Mahyn, May 27 applicant as well. I did email July 20 no reply. I'm thinking maybe because it's not yet the 10 weeks period. I send an email again yesterday.

Hope good news will come this week.

Hello there
Here is my experience. Applicant of May 30. Sent email to CIC on July 15th (6.5-7 weeks after, since it was written on website do not send emails if it less than 6 weeks). In auto-response email it was said "we will not reply if your email sent earlier than 8-10 week past" (which is strange, two different information). Anyway I have received answer from CIC on Aug 9:

"Your file is with our office and is awaiting completion of initial processing. You will be contacted in due course."

Hello,

Can you please tell me what is the dependent type I need select for my wife in IMM0008 form. Bit confused between Dependent type B and C.
