The DD has still not been encashed. I expect the same to happen sometime on Monday or Tuesday. I think the corresponding bank in home country to get intimation in 2 days post that. Will let you know once I have the confirmation.

Dear Pepto,

A foreign currency instrument (cheque/DD) deposited in India is different from foreign currency instrument deposited in Canada.

The former has a long time lag because of RBI guidelines. Even after the funds are cleared RBI wants them to hold them before releasing the funds.

Now coming to the all important foreign currency (read CAD) instruments deposited in Canada. Canada has a 5 day time (its 3 days in India) for a local instrument to be cleared. Now if you send a instrument to CIC payable at Nova Scotia then it would take days. In most cases the instrument is payable at Toronto. So the time to clear this instrument would be 5 days + courier time.

I know this cause I have been a banker in India and In Canada. I live and work here now. I hope I have cleared the whole process for you and others as well. Please feel free to send any more doubts you may have.

I can see clearly by looking at the spreadsheet that those with DD has a longer wait time (no secret now, of course) but I think the more important fact is that those with New Delhi, India and has DD as the payment options are worse affected. The reason may be some banking process (safety net) that Indian bank might be using to give the clear signal to the bank in Canada.

With my own experience anytime I deposit a foreign currency cheque or DD in my account it takes the longest time in the world to clear in my account. I once asked my bank manager and he said RBI guidelines is one of the reason for that. It is my wild guess that those who will even get the response might have their DD made from some private bank in Delhi. Those like me who got it from Nationalized bank might be the last to know about the DD.

I wish I had given a CC as an option or as someone smart guy used the Debit Card as option.

The great divide between CC and DD is growing........Help me god.

I strongly feel that the self appointed admins are still trying to play God. The day they want to make fun and be merry they do so. The day they want everyone to get serious they want everyone to follow them on that path.

With that said there is no denying the efforts that they have put in. However the efforts that they have put in does not justify the liberties that the these self appointed `Volunteer Admins`give themselves. I again implore on these noble women and men to come down from their high horses and work as real volunteers. In case they do find it too much beyond their call of duty then they can either increase the number of admins or let some others take charge. I am not asking to be given any admin right to me at all.

I really have noticed that members miss the original format of the spreadsheet, and for this I do empathize with everyone. I created this chat and the spreadsheet so that everyone can share and be able to track each others timeline. The spreadsheet has almost 500 members and this number grows each day. It has become increasingly difficult to update the spreadsheet with up to 50 persons in the sheet each day doing various things. Hence in order to still update the spreadsheet in a timely manner and allow for a better user experience, the decision was taken to restrict access to the original and promote the options. The admins through their actions and hard "voluntary" work have proven that they are committed to the cause of this forum.

Err, ProjectGKaneda, I think what Islandbabe was trying to say is, because the original spreadsheet had so many people viewing it and manipulating it all the time, it was difficult to carry out updates to the entries. I don't see where adding another Admin to the sheet would help as you would just run into the same problem of not being able to access because so many people are viewing it at the same time.

Also, jigzzy has provided several links to either the static page or the page where you can download the data and manipulate it your self in Excel.

I am a bit confused about the playing God part and the high horse, but, please let me know if there is something I have missed.

Even in the original worksheet we dint have any rights of editing the worksheet. So where is the question of 50 people manipulating the same? A very large number of users want the original worksheet then it should be available to them esp when they are unable to properly access the HTML on their mobile devices. I gave you a +1 for giving me an honest feedback. We can agree to disagree

I always c u guys back slapping yourself and each other all the time. You guys took this up as Volunteers and no one pushed you into it. Thats why I said and I repeat you are on a high horse. When you do this all your good work and intentions go down the drain. Also you guys are so closed to honest and upfront feedback. My intention is not to hurt anyone or treat anyone with disrespect. I just want you all to improve a little and make this forum even better than what it is. Its a gr8 place and you guys rock, but together we can make it even more better.

I am again open to feedback from the Admins, Scotchy and anyone else who is willing to share their mind.
