Woo, thats some calculations! So, the 2147 and 2174 figures (that are going above cap), when do you think they are going to be filled? Also, I see a very fast timeline there for you, what was your profile? Applied from where, and how'd you managed to get up the application done fast?
Hi, well we were not on the initial MI-1 38 occupation list which was announced in Feb 2008. We started looking into Canada immigration in early 2009 and found out we were not on the list, so we thought we'd have to secure a job and apply FSW2. But we had a house to sell and some finances to sort out etc so we were targetting 2011 as the year to move.
Fortunately when the new occupation list was announced at the end of June 2010 (MI2) my wife's industrial pharmacy experience was on the list. But didn't know about the new list until about 3 weeks after it came out, and then we had to spend a week or so reading through everything to work out what we needed to do.
Really the bottleneck was getting the IELTS test done for my wife (she was the PA), since the waiting times were about 3 or 4 weeks or so. So she did the test mid August 2010 and we planned to send the application within a few days of her test result arriving. I seem to remember they arrived on Thurs 19th August 2010, and we mailed the application Sat 21st August and it arrived on 30th August.
So it took us about 6 weeks to get the application together from when we realised we could first apply. I think our application was in the first 300 received out of the 1000 cap at the time.
Of course, this time round the cap is only 300 per NOC and with 2147 and 2174 being such popular NOCs, I imagine this is going to get filled up very quickly indeed. If my rough guesstimates are correct, the cap for both of these has been filled already by either people who have sent their applications, or those waiting on WES etc and hoping to send them very shortly.
Our application took around 11 months from mailing to getting the visa from London VO, which I guess is a pretty fast timeline. We are both from the UK, never lived anywhere else, so our application was pretty straight forward without any complications or delays.
Wayne.
