FSW 1 year work experience must be in Canada?

A friend told me that the 1 year work experience must be done in Canada?

Does that mean even if I can proof that I have a 1 year work experience in my country, I am not eligible for the program, what the hell?

No for FSW the work experience can be anywhere. Your friend may refer to CEC.

You must have >=1 years experience in your NOC for application.
It can be in any country for FSW.

Your friend is mixing CEC with FSW.
If you are applying under CEC then you need minimum 1 year work experience in Canada
In FSW work experience from anywhere in world will be taken into consideration.

By the way, if I do a 6 month job contract as a programmer in Company A and then immediately after do another 6 month contract with the same company, will that be accepted as the 1 year requirement?

If your roles and responsibilities are from the same Programmer NOC for that 6 + 6 month contract work, then it'll be considered. make sure, you satisfy the roles according to CIC requirements.

That will be accepted, but as Mr. Hope says ensure that your job letters match AND that you have earned at least 67 points, along with having the required funds.
