Yes you'll still need to do an x-ray so they can compare both x-rays. They are looking to see if there are any changes to the spots that appear on your lungs. They need to wait so long because bacteria or fungus takes a while to grow in the sputum. This test is very common for many applicants trying to come to Canada. Even if it was positive you'd just be asked to get treated before coming to Canada.
