LANDED..........
December 29th
Hi All,

I am looking for teaching jobs in universities and one of the conditions is that employment will preferentially offered to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

My question: I have not yet landed. Will I be considered a permanent resident from the day I land and sin my COPR or will I have to wait till I get my PR card in order to be legally termed permanent resident?

Accordingly I will land and apply for jobs in my field.

The day you "land" is the day you become a PR.

Thanks PMM,
Will my signing of COPR be sufficient proof or willl the hiring organization need me to produce a PR card?
I guess I meant to ask if a PR "number" needs to be had such as in a SIN number.
And I am wondering if that is found in a PR card rather than a COPR paper.

All employers will want to see is a SIN card starting with a number other than "9" before they employ you.

and what i know is you are to show your SIN cad only when you are already hired, not before . . . anybody may want to confirm or correct me on this

hope this helps
