Thank you!

with the online tool, it's currently unavailable, but anyways I;m not sure what to say with 'what do you want to do in Canada', is it 'move there' and ten 'for more than 6 months', or is it 'visit' and then also for more than 6 months? I used the visit option before, and it told me I'm eligible for 'extend your stay as a visitor OR a temp resident', I think. but I know some Poles applied for visas...

do you think I should write to the Canadian Embassy in Warsaw?

And does it matter that much, if I apply for a visitor visa (Poles do not need visas to Canada only if they're staying for less than 6 months, but I will have been longer there at the moment of my application, and will apply to stay more) or if I apply for ' extend your stay as a visitor OR Temporary Resident" which I am, right? I know a Polish girl, who is helping me a lot btw, meiko, who applied for a visa (having been in a similar situation to myself), but I want to confirm, if either of these will do, then? And which would be easier to get?

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to remain as a visitor or as a worker (or as a student).

No idea.

This all depends on your specifics. You can't get a visitor visa, you are from a visa-exempt country.

well, if my employer refuses to go through with the new requirements for permit extensions,I guess I will want to stay in Canada as a visitor/temporary resident, so the application 'extend your stay as a visitor or temporary resident' applies, right?

And as for the exemption, that's true, but it only applies to Poles staying in Canada for 6 months or less, whereas I will be in Canada much longer than that, but I'm asking only because I know of at least one person, Polish, who was in a very similar situation as me, work permit extension denied, but wanted to stay, so she applied for a visitor visa and she got it. I guess I just wanted to make sure I am reading all this right, I am still hoping my employer will want me to pay the fee etc, but I'm trying to find out what to do to stay if they don't, I just want to stay, visitor is fine, I just need to know which application I need to submit, unless it does not matter that hugely...?

Seems like it. Use the tool with different scenarios. Play with it.

Well for starters there is no such thing as a visitor visa. I think the first step to understand correctly is to get the terms right. Do some research about TRV and Visitor Status. That will answer your questions.

I will, thanks!

And with the TRV/visitor status, I am trying to understand that, that is why I am asking all those annoying questions ;) But I reckon that the 'extend your stay as a temporary resident' is what I should try, and I'll see what CIC tells me. I know someone who, being in a situation exactly like mine, and being a Pole like me, applied for a visitor visa here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/apply_online.asp and got it without any problems, but from what I understand now both might work for me, right? Thanks for the help and the tips, I just really need to clarify the CIC webpage information, because it's often quite confusing :/

Polish can't get a "visitor visa", Poland is a Visa-exempt country.

In fact you can't get a visitor visa, as there is no such thing.
