i was learning french but can anyone please guide me in one thing...

i m sick = je suis malade
i m hungry = J'ai faim

why we dont use ' je suis faim ' instead of j'ai faim ???? what is the difference and how can we find words to use with J'ai_____???

Je suis affamé - I am hungry (adjective). while "faim- hunger (noun)" J'ai faim - is the form. And you should bare in mind that foreign languages should not be traslated word by word but you have to lear the forms that are used in the foreign language and translate it to the equivalent form that is used in your native language.

i m hungry = J'ai faim - French people don't say 'I am hungry' instead they say 'I have hunger' so that is why we use J'ai faim. I find this way easy to understand it. So, I hope it helps you as well Sherry. cheers
